Oppo Fold Foldable Smartphone Tipped to Feature a Large Battery With 65W Fast Charging

Oppo is rumoured to be working on a foldable smartphone. The company, earlier this year, teased its Oppo X 2021, which is a concept smartphone with a rollable/ slidable display that extends sideways. The upcoming foldable smartphone from Oppo is said to take on the likes of Samsung and Huawei, who have launched multiple foldable phones, including the recently launched Galaxy Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Oppo has not announced the official launch date of its upcoming foldable phone. However, some details of the device have leaked online. The latest leak involves the battery specs of the Oppo Fold. 

Oppo Fold battery specs tipped

Oppo is long-rumoured to be working on its version of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The company could launch a foldable called the Oppo Fold soon. Ahead of the launch, some details have been tipped online. Tipster Digital Chat Station (via Mukul Sharma) claims that Oppo will pack a 4,500 mAh battery inside its foldable smartphone. The device will also support 65W fast charging, which is found on several other Oppo premium and flagship smartphones.

While a 4,500 mAh battery is fairly large, it would be interesting to see what optimisation tricks Oppo performs to ensure that the device with a large display offers a long battery life. Rumours suggest that the foldable phone from Oppo will sport a 7.8/ 8-inch. Moreover, it will be an AMOLED panel with a 2K resolution. Lastly, the display is also said to support a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, Oppo is said to pack Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 888 SoC. We can expect it to come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB/ 512GB of internal storage. Oppo is also rumoured to use the Sony IMX766 50MP camera on its foldable. The same sensor is found on the Find X3 Pro and even OnePlus’ latest flagship smartphones. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front camera. There is no word on whether Oppo will opt for an under-screen camera system.

For biometrics, the phone will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Lastly, it is said to boot ColorOS 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. This might seem odd as Oppo recently announced its ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 earlier this month.
