Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Amazon Prime – September 2)

Lord of the Rings is cult and the films by Peter Jackson made it even more so. And now Amazon has bought rights and produced a new series called the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power which portrays a time before the events of the films and the main book. It has received rave reviews from critics and has been hailed as a pioneering achievement in TV history. All that remains is to see how the audience receives it amongst prime competition with the ongoing Game of Thrones prequel show called House of the Dragon.

Vikrant Rona (ZEE5 – September 2)

Vikrant Rona is a Kannada language movie directed by Anup Bhandari and starring Kichcha Sudeep in the lead role along with Nirup Bhandari, Neetha Ashok and Jacqueline Fernandez. It follows the titular character travelling to a village where people are mysteriously disappearing with people blaming the supernatural.

Cuttputlli (Disney+ Hotstar – September 2)

Another film starring Akshay Kumar in the lead is releasing this year, but this time its a direct to OTT release. Directed by Ranjit Tewari and featuring Rakul Preet Singh, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Chandrachur Singh, the film is a remake of a Tamil film names Ratsasan. It revoles around a case of a killer targeting schoolgirls with Akshay Kumar’s police protagonist trying to catch him.

My Dear Bootham (ZEE5 – September 2)

With Prabhu Deva in the leading role as a genie in this Tamil movie, My Dear Bootham is about a young boy’s encounter with him and the growth of their bond. It also stars Remya Nambeesan, Samyuktha Shanmughanathan, Ashwanth Ashokkumar, Imman Annachi, Suresh Menon, Master Sathwik, Swaminathan.

Sundari Gardens (SonyLiv – September 2)

Sundari Gardens is a Malayalam romantic drama starring Aparna Balamurali and Neeraj Madhav in the lead roles. It has been directed by Charlie Davis and is about a school librarian and English teacher falling for each other and the challenges they face.
