Twitter Said to Introduce Paid Verification That May Cost Users Roughly Rs 1650 Per Month

Twitter is undergoing a drastic change with Elon Musk now taking charge of the social media app. One of the upcoming changes could be related to the Twitter verification process. Twitter verified users get a blue tick on their profile which makes them different from normal profiles and more importantly, these users are prominent in a way that the platform recognises them. Now, Elon Musk is planning to monetise the blue tick users globally. The news was first reported by Platformer and also detailed by The Verge.

The reports say Elon Musk has given Twitter employees their first target which, if not accomplished could lead to their removal from the company. Here’s everything we know about the Twitter verification charge.

Pay $20 or Lose Twitter Verification

As per the reports, Twitter will ask users to pay $20 (approx Rs 1646) per month to remain verified on the app. This will be the new price for the Twitter Blue subscription plan which costs $4.99 (approx Rs 410) per month. The company will ask verified users to pay for Twitter Blue subscription of $19.99 (roughly Rs 1650) under 90 days to remain verified or they will lose the blue tick. Twitter is yet to respond to the queries asked by the reporting publication. Twitter employees have been asked by Elon Musk to either accomplish the target by November 7 or lose their jobs. Musk also indicated the same by tweeting the below post.

Twitter launched the Blue subscription plan in India in June earlier this year. It allows users to view ad-free articles, edit their tweets, undo their actions, tweak the app colour, etc. It costs Rs 269 per month in India. Recently, Twitter also rolled out the edit tweet feature to a few Blue plan users.

Elon Musk Plans for Twitter

Elon Musk, last week officially acquired Twitter which he now plans to revamp completely including its earning sources. As of now, Twitter earns most of its revenue from advertising which the billionaire wants to convert to subscription based plans. The first ever move from Musk was to fire the top executives including the CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and Vijay Gadde, head of legal policy and trust. Previous reports have claimed that Elon Musk plans to fire 75% of Twitter employees. The major layoffs will include those employees who have not contributed much to the code base. It is being said that ever since Musk acquired the social media app, employees in the company have been working day and night and even over the weekend.

Musk’s $44 billion deal for Twitter was a ride of a roller coaster as one of the major reasons why he backed out was the presence of bots on the platform. Elon says that he will remove the bots from the platform.

If you have a blue tick on your profile, tell us if you would be interested in paying $19.99 (approx Rs 1650) to Twitter each month. Let us know in the comments section.

Google Pixel Watch review

Introduction Last year, Google and Samsung joined forces to release a unified version of Wear OS, one that's more capable, polished, and one that would remain exclusive to Samsung Watch devices for almost a year. Now, with just a handful of smartwatches running Wear OS 3.5, Google's Pixel Watch will be regarded as the golden standard for Wear OS smartwatches. The Google Pixel Watch is Google's first Pixel wearable offering, promising a smooth, polished experience and hoping to be regarded as "the Apple Watch of Androids". The Pixel Watch also carries the future of Wear OS as a...

Weekly poll: is the Motorola Razr 2022 the perfect flip foldable for you?

Flip foldables are already less common than horizontal foldables as companies choose to focus on large screen premium devices. There is really only Samsung, Motorola and Huawei, though the latter is cut off from the Google Play Store and 5G connectivity. As for Motorola, its Razrs felt like gimmicks – $1,400 for a Snapdragon 765 phone, even a foldable one, was not something that people actually wanted. Maybe some nostalgic fans with money to burn, but that’s about it. Motorola Razr 2022 in different flip positions The Motorola Razr 2022 is a completely different beast,...

Vivo is expected to launch the X90 series soon. The company is likely to launch three new premium smartphones in China. These devices are also expected to launch in India. The lineup is most likely to include the Vivo X90, X90 Pro and X90 Pro+ 5G. The X90 Pro+ 5G will have top-of-the-line hardware. Vivo is expected to launch the phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC under the hood. The X90 Pro+ 5G is also expected to feature some best-in-class camera hardware.

Vivo has not confirmed any details officially but a new report by GSM Arena has spilled some beans. The report claims that Vivo will launch the X90 series with a 1-inch camera sensor. While this particular piece of information has been floating on the web for a while, the report shines some more details about the camera sensor.

According to GSM Arena, the X90 series will debut with a new 1-inch Sony IMX989 camera sensor. This is the same sensor used by Xiaomi in its 12S Ultra. There will be the new V2 chip as well, which was unveiled recently. The chip is aimed to improve the camera performance in portrait mode and lowlight as well.

In addition to this, the X90 series is said to feature a 64MP OmniVision OV64B telephoto camera sensor.  It will use 4-in-1 pixel binning and 3-exposure staggered HDR to produce 16MP images.

The X90 series will also include a 50MP portrait sensor. The new Sony IMX758 sensor will be an upgrade over the current models, which feature a 13MP portrait sensor. The report also claimed that, like the iPhone 14, the X90 series will support Dolby Vision – for shooting, editing and viewing.

What Else is Known About the Vivo X90 Series?

Reports from the past revealed that the X90 series will feature a 6.78-inch Super AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate support. The X90 Pro+ will have a curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Vivo is also said to offer up to 120W fast charging support along with up to 5000mAh battery under the hood.

As mentioned, the X90 series will feature either a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC or MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 SoC. The new flagship SoCs are likely to debut in November.

Vivo is expected to launch the phones in December 2022. The devices are likely to mark their entry into the Indian smartphone market early next year. What are your thoughts about the X90 series? Let us know in the comments below.

Weekly poll results: the 2022 iPads fail to impress

The new 2022 iPads went on sale this week, but most of our readers will not be picking one up. The opinions in last week’s poll were against the new Apple slates and with the same reasoning too – higher price, not enough upgrades to entice would-be buyers. In the case of the iPad Pro 11 (2022) and iPad Pro 12.9 (2022), a MacBook Air is seen as a better tool for getting some work done on the go. macOS has always been geared towards work and creativity and has only gotten better over the years. Xiaomi 13 Lite IMEI Database Listing Tips It is A Rebranded Xiaomi Civi 2

Xiaomi is expected to launch the Xiaomi 13 series in the coming months. If we go by the launch timelines of the last two iterations, the Xiaomi 13 series could go official by the end of 2022. The Xiaomi 13 series will consist of multiple devices and the Xiaomi 13 Lite is expected to be the cheapest among all Xiaomi 13 series devices. In the latest development, the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Lite has been spotted on the IMEI database, courtesy of Pricebaba.

The upcoming Xiaomi 13 Lite made an appearance on the IMEI database with model number 2210129SG (G represents the global variant). Going by the model number, it appears that the Xiaomi 13 Lite will be a rebranded Xiaomi Civi 2. To those unaware, the Xiaomi Civi 2 made its debut last month in China and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. The Xiaomi Civi series smartphones usually remain exclusive to China but it seems like the Civi 2 will be an exception.

Xiaomi has been launching mid-range Lite series smartphones for the last 4-5 years. With the last couple of iterations of the Lite series devices, the company has been focusing the most on design. Xiaomi, last year, introduced the Civi lineup in China which also has design as its USP. So, it makes sense for the company to launch the Civi series of smartphones under the Lite lineup in global markets and vice versa. Let us take a quick recap of Xiaomi Civi 2 specifications and features.

Xiaomi Civi 2: Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Civi 2 features a 120Hz Curved AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, 1000nits peak brightness, and Dolby Vision support. The display panel features a pill-shaped notch and is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Under the hood, the Civi series smartphone sports an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor that comes coupled with an integrated Adreno 662 GPU. It comes paired with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The handset boots MIUI 13, which is based on Android 12.

The Xiaomi Civi 2 relies on a triple-rear camera setup that includes a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, a 20MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro camera. The smartphone packs dual selfie shooters including a 32MP primary camera, a 32MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a quad LED flash.

The Xiaomi Civi 2 sports a 4500mAh battery unit and supports 67W wired fast charging. It relies on a Type-C port for charging and data transfers. It packs a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos audio. The handset lacks 3.5mm audio jack, so the audio is also routed through Type-C port.

The Xiaomi Civi 2 comes equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner. It weighs 171.8grams and measures 159.2 × 72.7 × 7.23mm.

What do you think of the Xiaomi Civi 2? Do let us know in the comments section below.

Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE, Xiaomi 13 Lite, and Xiaomi Civi 2 might all be the same device

The upcoming Xiaomi 13 Lite has been spotted in the IMEI database today, bearing the model number 2210129SG. The fact that a 13 Lite is in the works is no surprise whatsoever, we always assumed the 12 Lite would have a successor. Its model number, though, is very intriguing. That's because just last week the same model number was seen in another database, where its name was said to be Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE when it does eventually launch. This got us thinking that there are only a few options that explain what's going on here. Maybe Xiaomi decided upon one of these two names first, and...

Possible Motorola Moto X40 sighting on TENAA shows a quad-curved display

The Motorola Moto X30 (which launched as the Edge 30 Pro globally after slight modifications) has a flat display, the Moto X30 Pro (aka Edge 30 Ultra) had a dual-curved display. Things may get curvier in the next generation as China’s MIIT just posted images of the XT2301-5, which some suspect is the Motorola Moto X40. Not the X40 Pro, the vanilla model. That said, the square camera island and curved display do make it look more like the current Pro. But notice the reflections, the display is actually curved on all four sides. Samsung Wireless Charger Hub Spotted on Bluetooth SIG, Possibly For Galaxy S23 Series

Samsung is expected to launch the Samsung Galaxy S23 series devices at Unpacked 2023 in early 2023. Alongside, the brand will reportedly launch a Wireless Charging Hub. The upcoming Samsung Wireless Charging Hub will be a successor to the Trio Pad Wireless Charger which was introduced back in 2020. Months ahead of the launch, we have now spotted the upcoming Samsung Wireless Charger Hub with model number EP-P9500 on the Bluetooth Special Interest Group certification website.

The Samsung Wireless Charger Hub, as the name suggests, should be able to charge multiple devices wirelessly simultaneously. Let us take a closer look at the information revealed via the Samsung Wireless Charger Hub Bluetooth SIG certification.

Samsung Wireless Charger Hub (EP-P9500) Bluetooth SIG

The Bluetooth SIG certification for the upcoming Samsung Wireless Charger Hub reveals the model number, which is EP-P9500. Apart from it, the listing reveals the design name of the product, which is SmartThings Station. It mentions the hardware version number as REV0.1 and the software version number as P9500.001. Apart from it, the certification listing doesn’t reveal anything about the upcoming Samsung wireless charger.

However, there are speculations that the Samsung Wireless Charger Hub might support up to 15W wireless charging, which will be about 67% more compared to Samsung’s Trio Pad Wireless Charger. To those unaware, the existing wireless accessory supports 9W wireless charging and can charge up to three devices at a time. We can expect the upcoming Samsung Wireless Charger Hub to charge three or more devices simultaneously.

It is not clear if Samsung’s Wireless Charger Hub will feature a design language similar to that of the Trio Pad Wireless charger. Also, the specifications and features of the upcoming Samsung charger are under wraps as of now. However, we can expect the Samsung Wireless Charger Hub to make an appearance on other certification websites in the coming weeks.

What are your expectations from the upcoming Samsung Wireless accessory? Do let us know in the comments section below.

Redmi Note 12 Pro Spotted on Geekbench with MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC Hours Before the Launch

The Redmi Note 12 series will make its debut later today in China. Ahead of the launch, we have spotted the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone with model number 22101316C on the Geekbench 5 benchmark database. This could be a Redmi Note 12 series device which is expected to launch today in Xiaomi’s domestic market. The benchmark listing reveals some of the key specifications of the Redmi Note 12 smartphone.

Let us take a closer look at the Redmi Note 12 series device benchmark scores and key specifications.

Redmi Note 12 Series Won’t Ship With the Latest Android Version

The Redmi Note 12 series device with model number 22101316C made an appearance on the Geekbench 5 benchmark database. This could be the Redmi Note 12 Pro. As per the listing, the smartphone managed to score 767 points in the single-core round of the benchmark test. Whereas, in the multi-core test, the score was recorded as 2008 points. The listing also reveals the presence of an octa-core processor with the codename ruby.

Upon digging further we found that the device is equipped with Mali G68 GPU and the peak frequency of the CPU is 2.6GHz. Based on these, it appears that the Redmi Note 12 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor. To those unaware, the Dimensity 1080 is the successor of last year’s MediaTek Dimensity 920 and was announced quite recently. The Redmi Note 12 will be one of the first smartphones to make use of the Dimensity 1080 processor.

Apart from it, the listing also reveals that the handset will retail in a 6GB RAM configuration. Though, Xiaomi might launch the device in other memory options as well. The upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series device will boot Android 12, but as usual, we can expect it to be topped with the company’s proprietary MIUI 13.

It’s a bit disappointing that the brand is shipping the device with the Android 12 version when the Android 13 has already been out for a couple of months. To learn more about the Redmi Note 12 series devices, you can head over to our previous coverage.

Disney+ Hotstar Super Plan Gets a Flat Rs 100 Discount, More for Jio Users

Hotstar is the home app to watch T20 World Cup 2022 cricket tournament in India. It hosts the right to broadcast the much-anticipated tournament happening right now in Australia. To watch these matches or any other content on Disney Plus Hotstar, a user needs to pay for a subscription which is divided into two plans – Super and Premium. Hotstar Super Plan costs Rs 899 per year whereas the Premium plan is priced at Rs 1,499 per year.

With a current going on offer, Hotstar Super Plan can be bought at just Rs 399. This is a perfect time to buy a Hotstar subscription if you are planning to watch all T20 World Cup matches. Let’s know more about it.

How to Get Hotstar Super Plan at Rs 399?

As per an offer spotted by Desidime, users can buy the Hotstar Super Plan at just Rs 399 instead of its regular price of Rs 899. Users will get flat Rs 100 discount on the Rs 899 plan by clicking on the below link.

Click here to get discount on PC/laptop

Do note that the PC link will not work on mobile apps and vice versa, therefore, it is advised to use proper links for your device. Once opened, you will see something similar to below image if you have already bought a plan. Now here comes a catch.

The remaining discount will only be available for Jio users and they will get up to Rs 500 discount based on their remaining validity. For example, if you have opted for a year-long plan and there’re months remaining, you might get a huge discount. However, neither Hotstar nor Jio have specified how exactly they are deciding the discount for each user.

Can I use the same offer on Hotstar Premium Plan?

No, as of now the offer with promo code HSSUPER100OFF is only limited to the Hostar Super plan. So, if you are planning to use this offer on the Premium plan, you might be disappointed.
