This week Telugu content is ruling the roost in terms of OTT releases with four of the top five releases in the language. The top five this week includes Bimbisara, Krishna Vrinda Vihari, Oke Oka Jeevitham, Ammu and The Peripheral.
Bimbisara is Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s fantasy action drama and deals with a historical story, while Krishna Vrinda Vihari is a romantic comedy film directed by Anish R. Krishna. Oke Oka Jeevitham is science fiction drama film written and directed by debutant Shree Karthick, and Ammu tells the chilling tale of a woman’s fight against domestic abuse. The Peripheral is the only English language content in the top five list and is a sci-fi show about technology and the future.

Bimbisara (ZEE5 – Telugu – October 21)
This Telegu language fantasy action film made with a budget of Rs 40 crores and managed to garner around Rs 64.57 crores at the box office making it an official hit. It revolves around a protagonist from 500BCE who gets time traveling powers and that leads to a tale of tale of greed, power and adventure.
The film has been directed by debutant Mallidi Vassishta and features stars Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Catherine Tresa, Samyuktha Menon and Prakash Raj.
Krishna Vrinda Vihari (Netflix – Telugu – October 23)
After being postponed multiple times the film was finally released on September 23, 2022. The protagonist, Krishna Chari from a strict Brahmin family falls for Vrinda who after initially rejecting his advances agrees to go out with him they eventually get married in secret. The real challenge for Krishna is how he let’s his family know.
The film has been directed by Anish R. Krishna and produced by Usha Mulpuri under the banner of Ira Creations. The leading actors in the film are Naga Shaurya and Shirley Setia.
Oke Oka Jeevitham (SonyLIV – Telugu/Tamil – October 20)
With an estimated budget of Rs 24 crores, the film was released back on September 9, 2022 with positive reviews from critics. This is another film that deals with time travel and to set their present right, Aadhi and his friends decide to take a ride with time to set their past right with the help of a scientist, but meddling with time rarely goes the way people want it to, and it wrecks their plans.
The film has been directed by debutant Shree Karthick and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. It stars Sharwanand, Amala Akkineni Ritu Varma with Vennela Kishore, Priyadarshi and Nassar playing supporting roles in the Telugu version and were replaced by Sathish and Ramesh Thilak in the Tamil version. The film was simultaneously shot in Telugu and Tamil languages, the latter titled Kanam.
Ammu (Amazon Prime – Telugu- October 19)
Ammu which received a mixed review from reviewers has been hyped up by Amazon in the past few weeks. The film is about a woman named Amudha who is dealing with her abusive husband Ravi and how she manages to deal with the whole situation.
The film has been written and directed by Charukesh Sekar with dialogues by Padmavathi Malladi and stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, Naveen Chandra, and Bobby Simha in the leading roles.
The Peripheral (Amazon Prime – English – October 21)
Another sci-fi tv show coming from the US, this is from the makers of the famed show Westworld which means it comes with a lot of hope. It is based on a 2014 book with the same name. The show is set in the future when technology has subtly altered society, a woman discovers a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own.
It has been produced and created by Scott Smith and Amazon with Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy servingz as executive producers. It stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Gary Carr, Jack Reynor, and Eli Goree in the leading roles.
