OPPO is rumoured to launch the Reno 9 series later this year. The Reno 9 series could debut in China in November or December 2022. OPPO has not confirmed any details officially. However, looking at the number of leaks surfacing online, we can expect the upcoming Reno phones to launch soon. The latest leak from the rumour mill reveals the design and live images of the OPPO Reno 9.
The vanilla model is likely to be accompanied by the Reno 9 Pro and Reno 9 Pro Plus in China. OPPO is also expected to launch the Reno 9 series in India. While we wait for the official launch date announcement, let’s take a look at the OPPO Reno 9 live images, design and specifications known so far.
OPPO Reno 9 Live Images
OPPO Reno 9 will be the company’s new upper mid-range smartphone offering. It is expected to launch in November or December 2022. Ahead of the launch, the live images of the phone have leaked. The images (via) reveal that the Reno 9 is likely to get minor design changes. The camera module design has been tweaked. While the camera sensor layout remains the same, the camera module is now flat and rectangular in shape.
The Reno 9 continues to sport a triple-camera setup on the back. At the front, there is a hole-punch cutout at the top centre for the front camera. On the Reno 8, the hole-punch cutout was located at the top left corner. The screen continues to remain flat and features thinner bezels around it.
Unfortunately, not much is known about the phone’s display and camera specifications. The Reno 9 is rumoured to feature a Snapdragon 778G SoC, whereas its more powerful siblings could feature a Dimensity 8000-series SoC. OPPO is also rumoured to launch the devices with a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera sensor, which is now becoming redundant in the series.
The Reno 9 is also rumoured to pack a 4500mAh battery with Universal Fast Charging Specifications (UFCS) standards. Currently, it is rumoured to offer 40W fast charging support, which will be a downgrade compared to the Reno 8’s 80W fast charging. However, UFCS aims at solving compatibility problems of fast-charging technologies that vary across different brands. Soon, the charging speeds could be improved and further smartphones with UFCS standards could offer 65W fast charging support at least.
