It was known for some time now that Honor was planning to release a new smartphone called the Honor 8X. A recent leak had revealed that this smartphone would come with a massive display. This was followed by the leak of a few hands-on images which confirmed such a device’s existence. The Huawei sub-brand has released an official launch poster announcing that two new smartphones will be launching on September 5.
Honor 8X Max: Comes With Massive 7.12-inch Display
The leaks as mentioned above had confirmed that an upcoming Honor 8X smartphone would come with a massive 7.12-inch screen. It now looks like this phone will in-fact be the Honor 8X Max, while the Honor 8X would bear a more manageable footprint. According to Honor President, Zhao Ming, the decision to release a smaller 8X series smartphone was because it was evaluated that the upcoming handset was too difficult to use.
Honor 8X, 8X Max: Expected Specifications
It is very likely that the Honor 8X Max will be the one to feature the 7.12-inch screen. This would be an IPS LDC panel which would come with a Full HD+ (2244×1080) resolution. A previously leaked TENAA listing revealed that this device would measure 177.57 x 86.24 x 8.13 mm and it will weigh in at 210 grams. This makes it considerably heavy compared to most other smartphones these days. Hopefully, the heft contributes to structural rigidity.

It would have been a missed opportunity if Honor hadn’t loaded this device with a reasonably sized battery. Thankfully, the previous leak had also confirmed that this phone would come with a large 4900mAh capacity cell. This battery is certainly large enough to handle the large display and still offer a considerably long screen-on time.
Considering how Huawei has started to equip even budget smartphones with its flagship processor, it was originally being assumed that the upcoming handset would not be an exception. This would have meant that the Honor 8X Max would be rocking a HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset. However, recently uncovered benchmarking result point towards a Snapdragon 660 SoC being used on this phablet. Either way, it is likely the phone would come with 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB of storage. Higher storage variant might also be making their way to the market.
In the imaging department, it is expected that the Honor 8X Max will come with a 16MP + 2MP dual camera setup at its back. On the other hand, the selfie camera is said to be comprised of a single 8MP lens. As for the software, it is highly unlikely for Honor to offer anything other than Android 8.1 Oreo running with the company’s EMUI skin on top.

At this time, it is difficult to say what the exact specifications of the Honor 8X will be. An educated guess would point towards almost the same specifications as the larger sibling, but in a smaller frame. We will surely update you regarding any developments.
Honor 8X, 8X Max: Expected Price
The Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max are not expected to be expensive smartphones. They will likely cater to the mid-range segment of the market. As such, there is a good chance the larger phone would be priced somewhere around the Rs. 20,000 mark whenever it makes it way to the Indian market. The smaller 8X would be priced a few thousand rupees lower.
