The movie and TV viewing records of the Microsoft Movies & TV app users will soon become visible in the Windows Timeline. With this feature, the app will join the select few who have been able to integrate themselves to the new Timeline on Windows 10.
The New Timeline
The Windows Insiders who have recently gotten their Movies and TV app updated to the 10.18081.1041.0 version, their viewing history for the app will now be visible on the Windows Timeline via MSPoweruser. As of right now, the Timeline is only equipped to acknowledge content bought from the Microsoft Store. Personal videos viewed on the app are as yet not recognized by the Timeline.
Though the latest feature of integrating to the Timeline is nice, it has a few noticeable kinks too. For example, the integration feature doesn’t let the user pick up from where he last switched off. To resume from where he last paused his viewing, the user has to visit the list of movies, browse in it to find the movie he was watching and then land on the information page before he can click on ‘Resume’ to restart his movie.
This might be a bit irritating but it is still a better-evolved feature than the usual UWP Microsoft apps and makes the Movie & TV stand out from the crowd.
The app has created and begun to promote a Disney Movie Anywhere channel that allows the user to view the Disney movie of his choice wherever and whenever. The user can now carry his movie collection with him by clicking on the new link in the Settings tag that allows one to connect their Movies Anywhere account.
To avail the new Timeline Integration feature, one will have to have updated to the latest version of their Movie & TV app on Windows 10. Even though the feature is available to only Windows Insider, for now, everybody will have access to it soon enough.
