Presently the smartphone market is continually changing, and users are demanding more from each brand when new models are being launched. Taking that into consideration, the primary need for today’s world is a fully functional smartphone with attractive specifications and a price that is pocket-friendly. Some smartphones are floating around in the market with some excellent specifications for high performance, with the brands’ pricing it keeping competition in mind.
One such upcoming smartphone is the Oppo Realme 2, set to be released on August 28 after confirmation from Oppo’s sub-brand Realme. The brand sent media invites for the launch and also teased fans all over with some crucial features that are to come along with the smartphone. But when the Oppo Realme 2 starts, it will be pitted against the Nokia 5.1 Plus, as both smartphones are set to compete for a place in the market.
Oppo Realme 2 vs Nokia 5.1 Plus: Thick in Competition
Both devices have a similar price tag and are set to match each other in their specifications and features. Then again it will depend on the buyer’s opinion and their loyalty towards each of the brands. To get a better perspective, let’s look at what these smartphones have to offer and how their specifications compare.
Oppo Realme 2 vs Nokia 5.1 Plus: Camera and Battery
With most smartphones in the mid-range segment are hell-bent on providing the best possible camera options along with other combinations. The focus currently lies at the rear end as each brand is trying their best to have a pair of lenses to give the user the best in-range photo options possible. That does not mean brands are not focusing on the selfie shooters, as both these smartphones have a decent shooter up-front, especially, for the mid-price range.
The Oppo Realme 2 is to have a dual camera at the rear, with the primary lens of 13MP paired with a 2MP depth sensor, secondary lens. The smartphone also carries an 8MP front selfie shooter. The Camera is a significant upgrade from the Realme 2’s predecessor, the Oppo Realme 1, which had a single, 13MP lens at the rear and a similar 8MP lens up-front. The dual cameras are about to increase the overall quality of clicks from the phone significantly, but the Nokia 5.1 Plus is ahead in this case by a fraction.
The Nokia 5.1 Plus will feature a 13 MP primary lens at the rear, much similar to the Oppo Realme 2, but the secondary depth sensor will be a 5MP, which is touted to be better than the 2MP lens offered by the Realme at the same spot. But the Nokia and the Oppo Realme are neck and neck in terms of their 8MP selfie shooter.
In the camera department, the Nokia 5.1 Plus certainly looks the winner, the Oppo Realme 2 is a better fit when it comes to battery life. The Realme 2 packs a non-removable, long-lasting 4230 mAh battery, which dwarfs the Nokia 5.1 Plus which boasts a 3060mAh battery.
Oppo Realme 2 vs Nokia 5.1 Plus: specifications
The real battle, however, comes with specifications both phones are set to feature in them. The Nokia 5.1 Plus was released only recently in July, so the specifications and features of this phone are naturally available, but the Oppo Realme 2 is yet to be launched and the specs confirmed by the brand. But rumours are that the Realme 2 will boast an Octa-core 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 processor, run on Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 chipset.
The Nokia 5.1 Plus, on the other hand, is run on an Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53), and move on Android 8.1 Oreo and Android One. This device is powered by a MediaTek MT6771 Helio P60 chipset.
The Realme 2 comes only in a single variant with Oppo’s sub-brand offering their newest smartphone in a 4GB/64GB model only. Nokia 5.1 Plus, on the other hand, comes in 4GB/64GB & 3GB/32GB variants. Although, both devices have expandable memory options using an SD card to increase storage up to 256 GB.
Oppo Realme 2 vs Nokia 5.1 Plus: Display and Features
Display for both devices consist of an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, with 720×1520 pixels resolution with an aspect ratio of 19:9. There could be very slight differences when it comes to the display which are more or less the same. The Nokia 5.1 Plus has a smaller screen size of 5.86-inches compared to the Oppo Realme 2’s 6.2-inch screen. Both phones have similar features including a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor and a compass.
Oppo Realme 2 vs Nokia 5.1 Plus: Price and Availability
While the Nokia 5.1 Plus already released in July, and the price of the base model, 3GB/32GB is between Rs.10,999 and Rs.11,999, the cost of the 4GB/64GB variant is somewhere between Rs.12,999 and Rs.13,999 in India. As for the Oppo Realme 2, there being only one variant and a lack of confirmed information it’s hard to speculate on the price of the device. However, if rumours are to be believed, Oppos is set to competitively price the Realme 2 at more or less in the range of the Nokia 5.1 Plus. So we can expect the Realme 2 to cost between Rs.12,999 and Rs.13,999, though the actual price would only be confirmed after the launch of the smartphone.
Oppo Realme 2 vs Nokia 5.1 Plus: Conclusion
Both phones have features and specifications that are matching each other as we have discussed already. Depending on what the buyer might be looking at in a phone, both phones add value in the pursuit of a smartphone with some excellent specifications and features. These may not be the best camera phones around, they just might be a valuable addition for the price range they are expected to compete with. Overall, both phones look solid and could be a good value for their range, as well as act as a good functioning device.
