A few days ago, we dug out the information for you that Xiaomi has finally started to take pre-orders for the Deep Blue Sea variant of the Mi Max 3 smartphone. And now, the phone has officially gone on sale in Mainland China.

If you have been waiting for the Deep Blue Sea variant of the Mi Max 3, then you can now go ahead and buy the phone from the official Mi website. It is also available for purchase via other online retailers in China.

When Xiaomi first launched the new Mi Max 3 in China earlier this year, it was available only in two color options. The Mi Max 3 is a phablet device, which means that it has got a huge display, and a big battery to go with. The phone isn’t currently available in India, so if you are in India, you will have to import the device.

The Deep Blue Sea variant of the Mi Max 3 is available in only one configuration. You can buy the phone with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The pricing for the new colour remains the same as the other color variants.

You can purchase the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Deep Blue Sea variant from the Mi Online Store for CNY 1,999, which is about $290. We had mentioned in the previous article that the 4GB+64GB variant would also be available, but that doesn’t seem like the case anymore. The online store shows this variant as out of stock, which means that you can only get it now with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. For that price, it is still a good deal though.

The phone can also be purchased via JD Mall, for the same price. There aren’t any special offers or such available for the phone right now. It is normal practice for smartphone manufacturers to sell a new color of the phone some time later after launching the phone. This creates fresh interest for the phone, and helps in increasing sales after all the hype for the original has died.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Specifications

You must be aware of the specifications of the Mi Max 3 by now. This is the successor to last years Mi Max 2, and continues the trend of phablet phones. The Mi Max 3 has a large 6.9-inch Full HD+ LCD display, with normal sized bezels, which makes this a really big phone. If you’ve got big small hands, this is not the phone for you. Also, phablets are not really a big trend now, as most phones these days come with a large 6-inch display anyway, which is the sweet spot.

Xiaomi has equipped the Mi Max3 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, which features an Adreno 509 GPU. Nothing fancy here, but this mid-range chipset can play most games and perform multi-tasking with ease. It also comes with 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of internal storage. If you want to add more storage, you also get a microSD card slot.

Since most phones in 2018 come with a dual-rear camera setup, the Mi Max 3 also gets one. It has a 12MP+5MP setup at the back, with the 12MP sensor having an f/1.9 aperture. It can record 4K and slow motion videos, with support for Portrait mode, and more. The front camera has a resolution of 8MP. Like the big display, the phone also has a big battery, 5500mAh to be exact. Thankfully, It supports fast charging. You get a fingerprint sensor at the back, and a headphone jack alongside the USB Type-C port at the bottom. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, with MIUI on top.
