BlackBerry announced the lite version for their flagship device, the Key 2 at IFA Berlin. The more affordable alternative is called the BlackBerry Key2 LE (lower End), and the smartphone comes with some smartly executed tweaks. BlackBerry who have actively been revived by TCL, have ensured they penetrate into various price range with different product offerings. The BlackBerry Key 2, their flagship device costing upwards of Rs 40000, but realising the market conditions they decided to bring in the BlackBerry Key 2 LE.
Amazon in the US has started taking pre-orders for the BlackBerry Key2 LE, which is set to be made available in the next 10-days or so. But what do we know about the BlackBerry Key2 LE yet? Let’s find out.
BlackBerry Key2 LE begins Pre-order in the US
Amazon in the US is the chosen partner for the sale of the BlackBerry Key2 LE. Pre-orders have started with the smartphone expected to arrive around a week and a half later. The BlackBerry Key2 currently is only been made available in a single colour option although this situation is expected to change before around October 12. The smartphone is now available at $449 which is much affordable than the $649 the Key2 costs. The difference between the BlackBerry Key2 and Key2 Le is that the low-end model has a few features such as keyboard shortcuts and a metal frame in design missing from the flagship model.
The BlackBerry Key2 LE might have a lower price, but that necessarily does not translate t a lower-grade smartphone. The Key 2 Le is a near identical smartphone to the BlackBerry Key2 including a physical QWERTY keyboard in the front.
BlackBerry Key2 LE: Specifications, Features
The BlackBerry Key2 LE sports a 4.5-inch IPS display with 1650×1080 pixels resolution. The smartphone comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Processor which somewhat falls under the mid-range section, clocked at 1.8GHz and paired alongside an Adreno 509 GPU. The BlackBerry Key2 LE comes in two variants with the first one offering 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The second option provides the same 4GB RAM while the Internal storage gets upgraded to 64GB. The memory could be further expanded up to 256 GB using a micro-SD card. The BlackBerry Key 2 LE runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, although the smartphone makers are yet to confirm the availability of an Android 9 Pie upgrade.
As for the camera setup, the BlackBerry Key2 features a 13MP+5MP dual cameras at the rear end. The Primary lens sports af/2.2 aperture, while the secondary lens has a f/2.4 aperture. The rear lens is accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash, and the camera sensors can record videos up to 4K resolution at 30FPS. Additionally, the camera also offers a Private Capture mode. The BlackBerry Key2 LE sports an 8MP Fixed Focus lens on the front side with a dedicated flash.
The smartphone consists of a 3,000mAh battery which BlackBerry has claimed to offer for up to 22.5 hours of standby time. The battery also supports Quick Charge 3.0. Connectivity options in the BlackBerry Key2 LE include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 5GHZ, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, FM Radio, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi Direct and USB OTG. The BlackBerry Key 2 LE comes with a USB Type-C reversible connector.
Additionally, the critical features of the BlackBerry Key2 LE include a fingerprint Sensor on the Space Bar of the QWERTY keypad as well as is backed by BlackBerry’s powerful security suite. The Security Suite comes with DTEK, BlackBerry Privacy Shade and BlackBerry secure.

BlackBerry Key2 LE: Price, Availability
As the pre-order for the BlackBerry KEy2 LE has already begun in the US, it won’t be too long before the same hits Indian markets. As for the prices mentioned so far, the BlackBerry Key2 LE is available for $449 and is much cheaper than the Key2 which costs $649. The prices are set to be similar in India when the smartphone arrives here.
