Vivo V9 Pro to Go on Sale Via Offline Stores from October 29 with Free Jio Premium Mobile Security

With most Xiaomi branded smartphones offering more bang for bucks, Vivo and sister concern OPPO has been trying to play catch up by offering improved specifications at a lower price. The Vivo V9 Pro, which is essentially the re-branded version of the Vivo V9 6GB, is a good example of the new approach as it offers a specs bump at a competitive price. The phone will start retailing in physical locations in India from October 29, 2018. Vivo has teamed up with Reliance Jio to offer some perks to the buyers.

The Latest V-series Phone Is Well Equipped To Take On Competing Phones

The Vivo V9 Pro was launched as an Amazon exclusive smartphone in India, but the Chinese company is now increasing the availability of the mid-ranger. Starting October 29, 2018, you will be able to get it from brick and mortar stores as well. The phone can also be purchased from Vivo’s E-store.

Apart from that, Vivo has joined hands with Reliance Jio to promote the Digital India campaign. You will be able to get benefits such as instant cashback of Rs. 1,950, Rs. 2,100 discount coupons, and free Premium Mobile Security for 12 months when you buy the phone with the Rs. 198 tariff plan.

The phone is pitched at Rs. 17,990 and Vivo is offering EMI up to 8 months beginning at Rs. 2,249/month. You can also claim the Paytm Mall cashback offer which is worth Rs. 2,000. A 5 percent cashback offer applies to all HDFC Paper, EMI, and debit and credit transactions.

Is the Vivo V9 Pro Ready For Competition

The Vivo V9 Pro sports a 6.3-inch Fullview Display 2.0 notched display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a resolution of 2280×1080. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, which is much faster than the Snapdragon 626 chipset that underpinned the Vivo V9 (review) The phone has 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 256GB.

The phone has a dual rear camera setup (13MP+2MP) and the front camera is 12MP. 1080p video recording is also supported. The smartphone also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and packs in a  3,260mAh battery. It runs Funtouch OS 4.0 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Vivo V9 Pro will compete with other mid-rangers such as the Realme 2 Pro, Xiaomi Mi A2 (review), and Nokia 7 Plus (review). All these phones are powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset. The INR 16,999 Xiaomi Mi A2  sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display. The camera-centric phone has a dual rear camera system (12MP+20MP) and a 20MP front camera. The 6-inch Nokia 7 Plus also has a dual camera setup (12M+2MP) and a 16MP selfie camera. Starting at Rs. 24,900, it is more expensive than the other two phones. Lastly, the OPPO Realme 2 Pro has a 16MP front camera and 16MP and 2MP sensors on the back. It costs INR 13,990. Amidst all this competition in the segment, it would be interesting to see if the Vivo V9 Pro makes a place for itself.
