Earlier this year, Google’s rumored mid-range Pixel 3a XL smartphone had been spotted on the Geekbench database with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor and 4GB RAM. We have now spotted the vanilla Pixel 3a on Geekbench with similar hardware.
Google Pixel 3a Spotted on Geekbench Ahead of I/O 2019
The Google ‘Sargo’ Geekbench listing suggests the vanilla Pixel 3a may be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 chipset under the hood. Even though the listing doesn’t actually confirm the name of the chipset, the lower benchmark scores compared to the Pixel 3a XL suggest the smartphone is unlikely to be powered by the same Snapdragon 710 chipset. In addition to the Snapdragon 670 chipset, the listing tells us the smartphone is equipped with 4GB RAM and runs on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system. We expect the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones to be officially unveiled at Google I/O 2019 on May 7. An official confirmation regarding the same is expected to arrive very soon.
As shown by leaked press renders of the Pixel 3a recently, the smartphone will look very similar to last year’s Pixel 3 in terms of design. It will have a notch-less display with relatively thick top and bottom bezels. On the back of the phone will be a single camera with an LED flash. In terms of build quality, however, the mid-range Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL models will not be as impressive as the flagship Pixels. Both the upcoming mid-range smartphones from Google are expected to come with a polycarbonate body. Another difference in the design department will be the lack of an IP rating on the mid-range devices.
The smaller Pixel 3a is tipped to sport a 5.56-inch Full HD+ resolution display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Its bigger sibling will feature a larger 6-inch display panel featuring the same Full HD+ resolution. The two smartphones may be offered in Just Black, Clearly White, and Not Purple colors.
