Motorola Moto E6 Specifications Leaked, Will Reportedly Launch Soon in the US

For budget-conscious consumers, Motorola has its Moto E series of smartphones. Last year, we saw the launch of the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus in the month of April, leaving everyone to wonder when the phone maker will come out with a successor. Well, a new report has emerged claiming the smartphone will be launching in the US soon. In a Tweet this morning, Mishaal Rahman disclosed a full spec list of the Motorola Moto E6 that goes by the codename “surfna.” Rahman isn’t necessarily known for leaks in the tech space, but considering he is the Editor in Chief at XDA Developers, we are confident he wouldn’t make such a claim without having a legitimate source. Let’s take a look at the information that has now surfaced.

Motorola Moto E6 Leaked Specifications

According to the Tweet, the Motorola Moto E6 will come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset that offers an octa-core CPU that clock up to 1.4GHz paired with an Adreno 505 GPU.  This chipset has been coupled with 2GB of RAM. The base variant of the phone will come with 16GB of onboard memory, while a little more money will get you a 32GB storage model.

For imaging, the rear of the Moto E5 offers a single S5K3L6 sensor from Samsung that offers a 13Mp resolution and an f/2.0 aperture. The front of the phone gets Samsung’s S5K5E9 sensor that offers a 5MP resolution with an f/2.0 aperture.

The display on this handset is said to measure 5.45 inches and bear a resolution of 720×1440 pixels. While this is likely to be true considering both the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus also came with similar specced screens, Rahman points out that he isn’t sure about the display’s above-mentioned specifications.

The battery size of this phone wasn’t mentioned, but considering the Moto E5 came with a 4000mAh cell, we expect the Moto E6 to feature one that is at least the same size if not more. Also, the phone will most likely come with Android 9.0 Pie running out of the box.

Motorola Moto E6 Expected Price, Availability

The Moto E5 lineup’s international launch took place in April last year, with their release in India happening a couple of months later. Since April is already over this year, we expect the Moto E6 to launch in the US sometime in May. It is also likely the phone will debut with higher specced models called the Moto E6 Plus and Moto E6 Play. As far as pricing goes, last year’s Moto E5 launched at a starting price of INR 9,999, but it now retails for a few thousand Rupees less. As such, the new Moto E6 should also come at a starting price similar to its predecessor.
