Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi launched its selfie-focused Redmi Y3 budget Android smartphone in India last week. The successor to last year’s Redmi Y2, Redmi Y3 is set to go on sale in India for the first time today. It will be available via Amazon India, Mi.com, as well as Mi Home stores.
Redmi Y3 First Sale in India at 12 PM Today
The Redmi Y3 will be up for grabs in India at 12 PM today through Amazon India, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores. In the near future, however, the phone will be made available via Mi Studio, Mi Stores, and Mi Preferred Partner stores across the country. The phone comes in two variants in India – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Redmi has priced the 3GB RAM variant at INR 9,999, while the 4GB RAM variant costs INR 11,999. The selfie-focused phone comes in three color options: Prime Black, Bold Red, and Elegant Blue.
As for launch offers, Airtel subscribers can avail up to 1120GB 4G data and unlimited calling on purchasing the Redmi Y3. The very same Double data offer is also applicable on purchase of a Redmi Note 7 or Redmi Note 7 Pro device.
Redmi Y3 Key Features
Featuring an Aura Prism design, the Redmi Y3 comes with a dual tone back that makes it look much more attractive than its predecessor. It has a P2i nano-coating as well for protection against accidental spills. The phone comes with a 6.3-inch Dot Notch display offering 720 x 1520 HD+ resolution, 450 nits maximum brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The budget Android smartphone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 octa-core processor. Redmi has coupled the 14nm processor with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. A dedicated microSD card slot is included for further expansion. Redmi Y3’s main selling point is undoubtedly the 32MP “super selfie” snapper. The front camera comes with 4-in-1 pixel-binning, EIS, HDR, AI Portrait mode, and AI Beautify 4.0 features. At the rear is a 12MP + 2MP AI dual-camera setup with AI scene detection, low light enhancement, and Full HD video recording at 60 frames per second.
The Redmi Y3 is fueled by a large 4000mAh capacity battery. Unlike the Redmi Note 7 (review), however, fast charging isn’t supported. Some of the other key features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and an IR blaster. As for software, Redmi Y3 runs on Android Pie-based MIUI 10.
