After many leaks and rumors, Redmi has finally launched the Redmi 9A today. The phone has made its global debut in Malaysia. And it will most probably be launched in other markets as well. However, the Redmi 9A might not launch under the Redmi branding in all the markets. We have now come across a TUV Rheinland certification of the Redmi 9A which suggests that Redmi 9A might be launched as a POCO phone in other markets.
Redmi 9A TUV Rheinland certification
The TUV Rheinland certification that we have spotted today mentions multiple model numbers from Xiaomi. All these model numbers contain M2006C3, suggesting that these are various models of the Redmi 9A. However, among all these models, one model number in the certification – M2006C3LI – has POCO mentioned beside it, which suggests that the M2006C3MI variant of the Redmi 9A will be launched under the POCO branding.
Xiaomi has so far launched mid-range smartphones under the POCO branding. We haven’t seen an entry-level smartphone with the POCO branding yet. And that might change soon when the brand launches Redmi 9A under the POCO brand. Currently, we don’t have any information about what will be the marketing name of the Redmi 9A under POCO branding. We also don’t have any information about when will Xiaomi launch the Redmi 9A as a POCO phone. But the TUV Rheinland certification does strongly suggest that Redmi 9A will launch under POCO branding
Redmi 9A specifications
The Redmi 9A features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD with HD resolution and a U-shaped notch at the top. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 SoC and it comes mated to 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. The phone packs a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The Redmi 9A features 5000mAh battery as well. The phone has been priced at RM359 in the Malaysian market.
