iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: What’s the Difference in Price in India, Specifications & Features

iQOO has launched a new mid-tier smartphone in India – The iQOO Z5. This comes only a few days after its launch in China. The latest Z model from iQOO is an Amazon exclusive and will start selling from the 3rd of October.

But here is a question – Should you buy the new iQOO Z5 or stick to the iQOO Z3; another mid-tier device launched by the smartphone manufacturer back in June. The iQOO Z3 was a blockbuster, and is one of the best smartphones to buy under Rs. 25,000. In fact, the iQOO Z3 showed a lot of potential in our in-depth review.

In this article, we will analyze the differences between iQOO Z5 and the iQOO Z3 and see whether the new Z5 is worth pursuing.

iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: Price in India

iQOO Z5 5G comes in two different RAM and ROM options. The 8GB+128GB model is priced at Rs. 23,990 while the 12GB+256GB option is priced at Rs. 26,990. Amazon is offering Rs. 3000 off on iQOO Z5 5G if you use an HDFC bank card and Amazon Coupons. However, the discount is only available during the Amazon Festive days i.e between 3rd October and 12th October.

On the other hand, the iQOO Z3 5G is still selling at its launch price of Rs. 19,990 for the 6GB+128GB option. It also has 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB variants priced at Rs. 20,990 and Rs.22,990 respectively. You can get a Rs. 1500 discount on Z3 if you use ICICI bank card or EMI options.

iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: Design

In our iQOO Z3 review, one of our biggest complaints was the glossy plastic back. Not only was it a fingerprint magnet but it was also very slippery. It seems iQOO has made some changes to the back. The iQOO Z5 5G features a 3D curved back with Frosted texture, which the company claims to be excellent for gripping. Although the back is still plastic, it is certainly an upgrade from the iQOO Z3.

The camera module design, both on the front and rear, have also been upgraded. The punch-hole on the front is no longer attached to the top bezel. Meanwhile, the main camera module on the iQOO Z5’s back appears to be wider compared to its counterpart in iQOO Z3. Also, the micro camera lens now resides right after the two cameras and the text markings are shifted on the side.

iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: Display

The iQOO Z5 keeps the same display configuration from the last generation model except for one small difference. The iQOO Z5 comes with a 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ LCD Display which is 0.09-inch bigger than the iQOO Z3. Apart from that, it’s the same HDR 10 display with 120Hz display with 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Even with the same configuration, iQOO may have improved the quality of the display. We will only know this in our in-depth review of iQOO Z5 in the future.

iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: Performance

The biggest difference between the iQOO Z5 and iQOO Z3 is the chipset powering the devices. The iQOO Z5 comes with a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G 6nm chipset whereas the iQOO Z3 runs on a Snapdragon 768G 5G chipset using the 7nm architecture.

The Snapdragon 778G was announced a year after the 768G. Naturally, it has a better CPU and GPU performance and more efficient battery consumption. The company claims the 778G brings 40% increased CPU and GPU. The AnTuTu benchmark of the 778G is also 22% higher than the previous generation chipset. That said, the iQOO Z3 is still a performance beast. The phone can run heavy titles such as Battlegrounds Mobile India and COD Mobile with ease.

Another big difference between the two devices is that the Z5 comes with LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 for better memory management and improved file transfer speed. For gaming, the iQOO Z5 comes with 4D Game vibration with linear motors for better vibration while playing games in landscape mode.

iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: Cameras

iQOO hasn’t brought much changes to the camera system except to its exterior design, which we discussed in the design section. The iQOO Z5 comes with the same triple camera shooter with 64 MP f1.79 main camera, an 8MP  f2.2 ultra wide and a 2MP micro lens.

There is a new Dual-view video mode which can record front and rear video at the same time. Similar to iQOO Z3, the new model can record 4K videos at 30 or 60 fps.

iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: Battery

In terms of battery, the iQOO Z5 comes with a 5000 mAH battery whereas the iQOO Z3 only offers a 4400 mAh battery. Interestingly, iQOO has dropped the fast charging speed from 50W in Z3 to 44W in Z5. iQOO claims that the Z5 battery can charge upto 50% in 26 min. With the iQOO Z3, it usually took us one hour to fully charge the battery

iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3: Verdict

Looking at the iQOO Z5 vs iQOO Z3 specifications, it would make perfect sense to buy the iQOO Z5 5G. The device comes with an improved chipset for and a minor design upgrade, both perfect for an enhanced gaming experience. However, if you own the iQOO Z3 then we won’t recommend switching since the new model doesn’t offer much upgrades.
