Apple seems to be gearing up to open its first retail store in India. The Cupertino tech-giant had launched its online store just last year in the country. We have been hearing rumors about Apple’s Retail Stores in India for a few years now, but it was confirmed officially in 2020. Last year, the company CEO – Tim Cook confirmed that the company is seeking approval from the government and plans to open its retail stores in 2021 in India. Now, Apple has started hiring employees for its upcoming offline retail stores in India, as spotted by 9to5Mac on LinkedIn. A LinkedIn post by Nidhi Sharma, a recruiter at Apple, reads,
Today marks one of the major milestones in creating History for Apple Retail in India…
We are now LIVE and we are bringing our very 1st 2 stores to India in Mumbai & Delhi!
In the LinkedIn post, the recruiter also confirmed that the first two Apple retail stores will be opening in Mumbai and Delhi locations. The company is looking to hire employees for various roles including Store Leader, Operations Expert, Senior Manager, Manager, Market Leader, and more. Though, these listings do not reveal any joining date, so we don’t know exactly when these retail stores will be open for business. However, we can expect these stores to go live in early 2022, if not in 2021.
A report by ET had previously suggested that Apple’s first-ever retail store in India will open in Mumbai on August 15th, 2021, which didn’t happen. The delay could have been due to the ongoing pandemic or delay in seeking approval. For what is worth, Apple retail stores, after years of rumors and leaks, will soon be live in India, starting with Mumbai and Delhi, and this must be great news for Apple fans and consumers in India. The company is also rumored to open its retail store in Bengaluru.
