Pirates of the Caribbean is a supernatural and action-adventure American Film series. Walt Disney’s theme park is also based on this Disney films franchise. To date there have been around five movies that have been released so far belonging to the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. The main cast members of all five pirates’ films include Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightley. All these movies can be watched on Disney+Hotstar.

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl – 2003

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was released in 2000 and was directed by Gore Verbinski. The story is given by Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Stuart Beattie, and Jay Wolpert. The movie features Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp), who arrives at Port Royal in the Caribbean Sea having no ship or crew. Later that evening, the town witnesses an invasion by some dangerous pirates who kidnap the daughter of the governor named, Elizabeth (played by Keira Knightley). Elizabeth had a valuable and magical coin that had transformed the pirates into the undead. The movie is a perfect blend of action, adventure, and drama. The story further proceeds with the attempts to rescue Elizabeth from the deadly clutches of pirates. Captain Jack Sparrow joins forces with Will Turner, who happens to be a gallant blacksmith (played by Orlando Bloom).

2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest – 2006

The movie is the sequel to the 2003 released film titled Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black pearl. After the immense love and interest that the first part received from the audience, it was only fair to expect good things from the sequel. The main cast members were seen reprising their roles. The movie is directed by Gore Verbinski. The respective producer is Jerry Bruckheimer. The movie displayed the return of Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp), who, this time seek the beating heart of Davy Jones (played by Bill Nighy). Jones was displayed as a mythical pirate who was trying to enslave Captain Jack Sparrow, but things were not that easy for him. Captain Jack Sparrow’s own friends, Will and Elizabeth, were trying to seek the heart of Davy Jones for their own personal motives.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – 2007

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End was released in the year 2007. The brilliant fantasy swashbuckler film is the sequel to the 2006 released Dead Man’s chest. The main cast members, including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, and Stellan Skarsgård return to fight the Easy India Company. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End was made with an estimated budget of 300 million dollars and managed to make a box office profit of 960.9 million dollars. In this part, Will Turner (played by Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth (played by Keira Knightley), and Capt. Barbossa (played by Geoffrey Rush) comes together as a team in this part to save the beloved Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp) from the clutches of the malicious Davy Jones. Meanwhile, things were not good at the Seven Seas, Flying Dutchman ghost ship’s crew wrecked danger and havoc. Things were all chaotic and the friends of Captain Jack Sparrow must travel through the deadly waters to come face-to-face with another famous Chinese pirate named Sao Feng (played by Chow Yun-Fat). The friends and Captain Jack Sparrow are seen choosing sides and battling the ultimate battle while Jack’s life hangs in the balance. After a lot of trouble and hardships Will, Elizabeth, and Captain Barbossa managed to summon the nine pirates’ captain.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – 2011

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is a 2011 released action-adventure film. The movie is directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The legendary Jack Sparrow was back again, looking for the much-talked-about fountain of youth. While he was venturing out in search of the fountain, captain Jack Sparrow also came in contact with a mysterious woman from the days of his past. Entangled in the past and present, Jack was seen handling too many things all at once. He was also put up against an old enemy named Barbossa and the dangerous and feared pirate named Blackbeard. The usual pirates of the Caribbean faces were not seen in this part, and Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom were not seen in their usual roles of Elizabeth and will. Penélope Cruz had joined the cast and played the character of Angelica, who happened to be Captain Jack Sparrow’s former love interest and daughter of the feared pirate, Blackbeard. Fans were thrilled by the mind-blowing chemistry between Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz. The duo had done several movies in the past and it was exciting to see them paired up for this film. The usual adventure and action were preserved in this pirate film.

5. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales – 2017

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a 2017 released American action-adventure, Swashbuckler film that was the latest film released in the Pirates of Caribbean films. The movie was internationally released as Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge. This part was directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. It was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. In the attempts to break the curse of Flying Dutchman, Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp) and Henry Turner (played by Brenton Thwaites) set out on a mission to find the Trident of Poseidon. Meanwhile, Captain Salazar was trying to capture and spread his rule across the seas. Captain Jack Sparrow was trying to prevent Salazar from spreading his rule. The movie also witnessed Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom return for this part after the duo was missing in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The movie was made with an estimated budget of 230–320 million dollars and made an overall profit of 794.9 million dollars. Still, the movie mostly received negative reviews and was not so much appreciated by the audience. This part has been considered as an overwhelming addition to the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Fans showered immense love on the films, and critics have always praised Johnny Depp for his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow. However, before the Johnny Depp Vs Amber Heard trial was closed, the movie’s production house, Walt Disney, decided to remove Johnny Depp from the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film. However, soon the trial ended, and Johnny Depp rose victorious. It was stated that Depp has decided not to return for the role even if Disney offered him an enormous sum of money. Various petitions have been going around the internet regarding Depp leaving the role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and it is believed that the pirates of the Caribbean movies will lose their very essence after Depp’s departure.
