WhatsApp continues to update its beta app with new features. The beta app usually reveals the potential features that all users of the message app might get in the future. Some of the beta features are rolled out within a few weeks, whereas others take many months of testing. Some features do not make it post the beta testing phase. One feature that we are hoping making it to the final release is call scheduling on WhatsApp. According to a new WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that lets users schedule a call in group chats.
Let’s take a look at more details about the upcoming WhatsApp feature that could be available soon on your smartphone.
WhatsApp Beta Feature: Call Scheduling
WhatsApp is reportedly working on the new call scheduling feature for group chats, which is currently being tested on the Android beta app. It is more of a convenience feature, which will allow users to schedule calls in advance with other group members. According to the WABetaInfo report, the feature is being tested in the beta version for Android 2.23.4.4.
Once the feature is live for users, they will be able to choose a title, date and time for the group call. This will help other users be aware of the group call well in advance.
The feature is currently under development. WABetaInfo uploaded a screenshot which gave an idea as to how the feature can be used.
It is unknown when the feature will be released for all users. It is also unknown if the iOS beta version of the app will get the feature anytime soon. Considering a vast chunk of users use the iOS app, it is likely that the feature will be available in beta and later publicly for all users in the coming months.
WhatsApp has not confirmed any details about the official release timeline of the feature. We will share more details about the same as and when available.
Recently, the Meta-owned company updated its app with many new features. The company recently confirmed the rollout of five new features coming to the Status menu. The new features for WhatsApp status include sharing voice messages and using the audience selector for added privacy. Users can also quickly respond to updates from others with reactions, profile rings, and improved link previews. Some of the features are already available for users in selected regions.
