Qualcomm, late last year, unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Based on TSMC’s 4nm process, the new flagship Snapdragon SoC comes with improved performance and efficiency over the outgoing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. This year, there might be a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC. Alternatively, Qualcomm might skip launching the Plus version of its SoC and instead launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC later this year.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC itself has a peak clock speed of 3.2GHz. Its overclocked version found in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series has a peak clock speed of 3.36GHz. It is expected that the upcoming 8 Gen 3 SoC will have even better performance while reducing power consumption. We are many months away from the unveiling of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. However, a new report claims that the next-generation Qualcomm flagship SoC will debut sooner than expected.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC Launch Timeline Tipped
Qualcomm is likely to launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC earlier than expected. The upcoming flagship will debut in the last quarter of 2023, as per leaks. The leak (via) comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who revealed that the Qualcomm flagship SoC will debut in October 2023.
The tipster further revealed that smartphones with the new Snapdragon flagship SoC launching later this year will launch in Q4 of 2023. Most major smartphone manufacturers, such as the likes of Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Samsung, etc., are likely to use the upcoming Snapdragon 8 series SoC in their flagship phones later this year.
Details about the Gen 3 Snapdragon flagship SoC are unknown at the moment. However, it is being reported that the third-gen Snapdragon 8 series SoC will have a 25 per cent bump in CPU performance over the 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Gen 3 version reportedly scored 1,930 and 6,236 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is already showing some massive power efficiency figures. In India, the SoC is found in the iQOO 11, OnePlus 11 and the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. The upcoming Xiaomi 13 Pro, which is already available in China with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, is already confirmed to launch in India on February 26. We can also expect the Moto Edge 40 Pro to join the flagship league in India with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
