iPhone 15 launch event is a few months away. Apple is expected to launch four new iPhones in September 2023. The rumour mill has been leaking some of the iPhone 15 specifications and features ahead of the rumoured September Apple event. As we approach the launch, details about next year’s iPhone models have leaked online. A new report has revealed some design details of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Reports suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro series will sport a bigger display than the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models. Now, a new 9to5Mac report has revealed the CAD renders of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, aka the iPhone 16 Ultra. Let’s take a look at the iPhone 16 Pro Max design, specifications and other details known so far.
iPhone 16 Pro Max CAD Renders Reveal First Set of Design Details
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is more than a year away from its official launch. Some display and design details have been revealed via new CAD renders. The images shared by 9to5Mac show that the 16 Pro Max will have a bigger form factor than the upcoming 15 Pro Max. The report also states that Apple might replace the Pro Max branding with Ultra to keep its top-end iPhone’s branding in line with Apple Watch Ultra. While there have been rumours about the same in the past, it is too soon to confirm anything just yet.
Moving on to the design details, the 9to5Mac report claims that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will sport a 6.9-inch display. The device is taller, but thankfully, only slightly wider, than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, according to the report. The 2024 top-end iPhone is likely to have a height of 165.0mm and be 77.2mm wide. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to be 159.8mm tall and have a width of 76.7mm.
The new CAD renders corroborate a recent report, which claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro will roughly sport a 6.3-inch display, whereas the larger model will have a 6.9-inch display. The non-Pro models are said to sport 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays.
The upcoming iPhone 15 series, on the other hand, is said to launch in two screen sizes. The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro will sport 6.1-inch displays, whereas the 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max will feature 6.7-inch displays.

Apple might be introduce bigger displays in the Pro models to make them look visually different from the non-Pro models next year. The upcoming iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are likely to look identical to the iPhone 15 Pro models from the front at least as they will feature the pill-shaped notch for the Dynamic Island. From the rear, the Pro models will feature a triple-camera setup, a LiDAR sensor and an LED flash. Therefore, a different in height might add to further differentiation in terms of design.
The iPhone 16 Pro models are also said to get a periscope lens on the back with higher zoom range. Apple is likely to reserve the camera feature for the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year, with the iPhone 15 Pro getting a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom.
