Fortnite Mobile on iOS devices and it has a really nice feature. Epic Games didn’t really talk about this new feature in the update change-log, but a lot of iOS users will to love it. Especially those who are using the new iPhone Xs, Xs Max or the iPhone Xr. After updating to the latest version of Fortnite on iOS, you will be able to play the game at 60 frames per second. This currently only works on iOS with the latest iPhone variants.
A new update is now available forFortnite iOS Update Brings 60fps Gameplay
Epic Games has released a new update for the Fortnite Mobile game on iOS. Version 6.31 update is now available for iOS from the App Store. If you haven’t updated yet, and you own one of the new iPhones, we recommend you update right away. Playing the game in 60fps gives a much better experience. The change-log for the update doesn’t really include anything new. It consists of the same improvements that was present in the previous version 6.30 update.
However, according to Senior PR of Epic Games, Nick Chester, the update allows users of the iPhone XS (Review), XS Max, and XR, to play the game at 60fps. He states that this is a major improvement in gameplay and is an impressive technical achievement by the team at Epic Games.
Not sure why it didn’t make it in to today’s patch notes, but if you play @FortniteGame on an iPhone XS/XS-Max/XR, you can now play at 60FPS. That’s an impressive technical achievement by the team and it looks great! Turn it on in the options. pic.twitter.com/jwiozhnGIJ

The 60fps option can be turned on through the settings menu of the game. Once you turn it on, gameplay will be much smoother and obviously, more fun. Unfortunately, the option is currently only available for the latest iPhones. According to Nick, this is because of hardware limitations on older iPhones, including the previous gen iPhone X. He mentioned that the team is working on improving gaming performance on older devices as well.
Fortnite Mobile on Android
Fortnite is one of the biggest games on mobile right now and is available for both iOS and Android. On the Android side of things, the game doesn’t support 60fps gameplay yet. There are plenty of Android devices that can easily run the game at 60fps, but Epic Games hasn’t included the option yet. It is possible that the team is working on a new update for Android as well. Smartphones such as the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Pixel 3/3XL, OnePlus 6T, and others, will be able to run the game at 60fps.
The Android world also has a bunch of gaming focused smartphones as well. The Razer Phone 2, Asus ROG Phone, Xiaomi Black Shark 2, and Honor Play. These devices can also play Fortnite at 60ps and the game would especially be brilliant on the Razer Phone 2 and the Asus ROG Phone. The Razer Phone 2 comes with 120Hz display and the Asus ROG Phone has a 90Hz panel, which would make 60fps gameplay even better than others.
Unfortunately, for now, iOS users with the latest iPhones have an advantage over Android users. It shouldn’t take long for the team at Epic Games to release an update for Android as well. While Fortnite for iOS can be downloaded directly from the App Store, on Android, users have to sideload the game because of Play Store restrictions. This could be another reason why Fortnite for Android hasn’t got this new feature.
