(Rolling Out) Realme 1 ColorOS 5.2 Stable Update Roll-Out Begins November 29, Optimises Bokeh Quality

Update: Realme 1 users are now receiving the ColorOS 5.2 stable update as we reported earlier. The update brings quite a few changes to the earlier beta update. Read on to know more about the latest update

Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme Mobiles has confirmed that the ColorOS 5.2 stable version for the Realme 1 will be rolled out on November 29. In addition to including the changes that were part of the beta version, the stable version will come with a few additional changes as well. Currently, the only Realme smartphone that runs on ColorOS 5.2 is the Realme 2 Pro. However, as confirmed by the company a few weeks back, all its models will be updated to the latest version of ColorOS 5.2 in the coming weeks.

Realme 1 ColorOS 5.2 Update to Roll Out Starting November 29

Realme 1 owners can expect to receive the ColorOS 5.2 stable update this Thursday, i.e. November 29. As expected, the software update will be rolled out via the OTA route. According to the changelog provided by Sheth, the stable version of ColorOS 5.2 will remove yellow status bar blinking and ongoing notifications in various modes. Additionally, the update optimizes the bokeh quality of the front-facing camera.

The ColorOS 5.2 update brings quite a few other features as well, which were already included in the beta version that was rolled out earlier this month. One of the most exciting new features of ColorOS 5.2 version is “Smart Bar”. The feature allows users to switch between apps, transfer files, reply to messages, or take screenshots when playing a game or watching a video. If you are someone who likes to multitask a lot, the Smart Bar feature will certainly impress you. ColorOS 5.2 also brings single-swipe notification dismiss, headset icon in the status bar, and a fix for the developer options’ flashing issue.

Realme 1 Expected to be Updated to Android Pie “Soon”

While the ColorOS 5.2 update for the Realme 1 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo, the company has confirmed that the smartphone will receive the Android Pie update “soon”. Since no specific timeframe has been announced yet, it is not clear if the final Android 9.0 Pie update for the Realme 1 will be released this year. In case Realme plans to release the Pie update before the end of the year, we can expect it to announce the beta rollout very soon.

Realme 1 users will also be able to unlock the bootloader starting early next year. Sheth recently took to Twitter to announce that the company will unlock the bootloader and release the kernel source for the Realme 1 in the first quarter of 2019. Realme has also confirmed its plans to allow bootloader unlocking on the Realme 2 Pro. Once the Realme 1 and Realme 2 Pro smartphones get official bootloader unlocking support, we can expect to see a number of custom ROMs to appear for the two smartphones. While it is still possible to unlock the bootloader, you will end up voiding the warranty if you decide to do so. With official bootloader unlocking support, you will no longer have to worry about losing warranty and can try out various custom ROMs.

Realme’s first smartphone, the Realme 1 is currently available in India only in a single memory configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for INR 12,999. If you hold an HDFC credit or debit card, you can get a 5% instant discount on your purchase. The maximum discount per card is capped at INR 1,500.
