Facebook Live Now Accessible to Non-Facebook Users

Facebook Live Now Accessible to Non-Facebook Users

Facebook is seeing major increases in consumer engagement on its products and services. As demand for Facebook Live video during COVID-19 lockdown rises, Facebook allows non-users to view live streams from mobile devices, a feature that was previously only available on the web. The latest functionality is now available to users of Android, and will roll out to iOS.

Facebook offers an audio-only Live broadcast service. This also refers to Facebook users who, though signed out of Facebook, will watch live broadcasts.

Facebook also introduces new options such as Public Switch Telephone Network to allow users to listen via a toll-free number on a livestream. As billions of people stay home, the social media giant is seeing a huge increase in the use of its services.

In a bid to handle unprecedented Internet network load as more people stay home during the lockout, Facebook and Instagram reported on Tuesday that video quality would be lower in both India and Latin America.
