Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi recently unveiled its Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max smartphones in India. While everyone was expecting the brand to unveil the successor to the Redmi 8 smartphone alongside the Redmi Note 9 Pro series, that did not happen and the company kept the ones interested in the Redmi 9 waiting. So far, even the rumor mill has been pretty silent about Redmi’s upcoming entry-level smartphone, but not for too long. As it turns out, the first alleged live shot of the Redmi 9 has recently surfaced on the internet, which gives us a hint as to what the device could look like.
Redmi 9: Alleged Real-life Image and Specifications
As seen in the leaked image of the device, the alleged Redmi 9 is tipped to feature a quadruple rear camera setup. Alongside the camera module, which has a striking resemblance to the Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphone, there is a physical fingerprint scanner, which sits at the bottom of the cameras. Speaking of the resemblance, the alleged live shot of the Redmi 9 suggests that the camera module will be surrounded by a circular ring, which looks like the one found on the Redmi K30/POCO X2.

The source has further mentioned some key specifications of the Redmi 9. As per the report, the Redmi 9 will feature a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor at the back. As the Redmi 9 is likely to take on the Realme 6i smartphone, its camera configuration is almost similar, save for the primary lens (48MP vs 13MP) and the macro lens (2MP vs 5MP). While the front of the device is not shown in the leaked image, we can expect the Redmi 9 to feature a waterdrop notch given the budget nature of the device.
Under the hood, the Redmi 9 is tipped to be powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, which the Realme 6i also makes use of. The RAM and the storage capacity of the device is not known as of now. On the software side of things, the Redmi 9 will most likely ship with the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s in-house MIUI 11 skin baked on top of it.

As there is no way to inspect as to how legitimate the leaked image is, we would suggest our readers to take this leak with a slight grain of salt as of now. Since the leaks have started popping up for the Redmi 9, we can certainly expect more to follow in the future.
