Xiaomi has hiked the prices of Redmi Note 8, Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A in India. The company has increased the price of these budget smartphones by Rs 500 in what can be termed as the third revision in prices since launch. Previously, Xiaomi had increased the pricing on its smartphones after the GST on mobile phones had increased by six per cent. Going back to February, the company had increased the pricing of the Redmi Note 8 by Rs 500 citing supply chain issues due to Coronavirus.

As it stands now, the Redmi Note 8 starts at Rs 11,999 for the base variant and Rs 14,999 for the maxed-out version. The latest hike totals to Rs 2,000 over the launch price that was set at Rs 9,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively.

Xiaomi Redmi 8 is another phone to have gotten a bump up in price and now retails at Rs 9,499 over a hike of Rs 1,500 since its launch in October 2019. The price of Redmi 8A Dual is also increased by Rs 200 and it now starts at Rs 7,499 in India. At launch, the Redmi 8A Dual was priced at Rs 6,499 for the base variant and Rs 6,999 for the maxed-out version which now sells for Rs 7,999. Both the variants have received a hike of Rs 1,000 since launch.

The new prices of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A Dual are now live across online retailers. While Xiaomi hasn’t given a statement yet, the increase in prices is likely due to the impact of Coronavirus on supply chain across the world.
