POCO M2 Announced, to Launch in India on September 8 via Flipkart

Xiaomi-owned POCO has announced that it will launch its new budget smartphone — the POCO M2 in India on September 8. The company made the announcement via a tweet from its official handle. C Manmohan, GM at POCO India, also confirmed the development. Flipkart already ha a landing page for the new device. As you might be probably aware, the POCO M2 will be positioned as a toned-down version of the POCO M2 Pro, which the company already sells in India. That phone, if you recall, went on sale back in July 2020.

POCO is yet to share pricing details of the phone, but chances are high the POCO M2 could be priced nearer to the Rs 10k mark. This shall also ark POCO’s entry to the entry-level segment. Besides, there is also talk about the possibility of POCO revealing details and a possible launch date for the much-awaited POCO X3 on the same day.

From the launch poster of the phone, it is clear that the POCO M2 will almost certainly feature a display with a waterdrop notch. The company is also toting the POCO M2 as a value for money proposition that will solve all your issues concerning low RAM, poor cameras, and lousy battery life.

The announcement of the launch date for the POCO M2 comes a day after POCO announced that the POCO M2 Pro would be available via open sale in India. POCO has managed to keep the rest of the specifications of the phone under wraps. That being said, chances are high the POCO M2 could turn out to be a rebranded version of an existing Redmi smartphone. We have been tracking an entry-level smartphone with model number M2004J19I, which eventually turned out to be the Redmi 9 Prime that launched in India last month. Could the M2 be a slightly modified variant of this same handset? The Redmi 9 Price – as you are aware – sells for Rs 9,999 in India?
