Xiaomi Showcases New Mi Air Charge Technology Which Charges Through the Air Without Any Wires

Xiaomi has unveiled a new charging tech called the Mi Air Charge. As the name suggests, the new charging technology from Xiaomi charges devices wirelessly without any cables or stands. Xiaomi claims that the new Mi Air Charge tech can be used to charge multiple devices at the same time. The company has self-developed the new charging mechanism through its air-space charging technology. The Mi Air Charge has a built-in 5-phase interface antenna, which can accurately detect the position of the device to charge it. Xiaomi claims that the futuristic charging tech can currently refuel a device at a speed of 5W. Let’s take a look at the new Mi Air Charge technology announced by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi announces new Mi Air Charge tech to charge your devices without a wire or stand

Xiaomi has showcased a new remote charging that charges devices through the air. Air Charge technology is capable of charging multiple devices at a time. “Charge multiple devices simultaneously while you’re gaming, walking around or even when something’s in the way, no strings attached. Another giant leap forward in wireless charging technology,” Xiaomi Global tweeted.

The remote charging technology does not require any charging cables or stand. Xiaomi Global CEO Lei Jun shed more light on how the truly wireless charging technology works. He said that the Mi Air Charge technology has been developed through the Xiaomi’s air-space charging tech. It has a built-in 5-phase interface antenna, which can accurately detect the position of the device to charge it. The phase control array composed of 144 antennas can emit millimetre waves through beam-forming. 

On the smartphone side, Xiaomi has also developed an antenna array with built-in “beacon antenna” and “receiving antenna array”. Beacon antenna broadcasts position information with low power consumption. The receiving antenna array composed of 14 antennas converts the mm-wave signal emitted by the charging pile into electric energy through the rectifier circuit.

The Xiaomi Global CEO also revealed that Xiaomi is working on improving the Mi Air Charge technology. More smart appliances and devices can use the remote charging tech in the future. This could include smart speakers, desk lamps, and other small smart home appliances.
