Apple is all set to release the next iteration of the iPhone – the iPhone 13 at tomorrow’s California Streaming event. The lineup will remain the same as it was last year, so you will see the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. That said, based on all the rumours and leaks, we are expecting to see a ton of changes in the new iPhone 13 lineup. iPhone 13 Series: Launch Date, Event Time, Where to Watch It Live
Apple is holding a virtual event called, “California Streaming” on September 14th where it is expected to showcase the iPhone 13 models. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM IST or 1 PM ET.
According to rumours, Apple will also showcase a new Apple Watch Series 7 and possibly AirPods 3 as well.

There is not much information on how much the iPhone 13 models will cost. But we do know that Apple will likely keep prices in close range with the price of the iPhone 12 lineup.
For now, we can expect the starting price to be as follows –
- iPhone 13 Mini: $729 (~Rs 53,000)
- iPhone 13: $829 (~Rs 61,000)
- iPhone 13 Pro: $999 (~Rs 73,000)
- iPhone 13 Pro Max: $1099 (~Rs 81,000)
A recent report from DigiTimes said that the iPhone 13 will likely cost more due to increased chip production costs from TSMC. However, popular leaker Max Weinbach has disregarded the claim and said there will be no increase in the iPhone 13 price.
iPhone 13 Series: Expected Sale Date in India
Apple may start taking pre-orders starting September 17th, according to multiple leaks. If there are no delays due to the pandemic, we might even see the sale of the upcoming iPhones on September 24th. However, we will know the exact launch details at the September 14th event.
Meanwhile, there is no information available on the iPhone 13 India launch. The iPhone 12 was available in India as soon as it was launched in the U.S., so you might see Apple doing the same with iPhone 13.
iPhone 13 Series: Expected Specifications and Features
120Hz ProMotion Display
The biggest new change that we will see in the iPhone lineup will be the 120Hz ProMotion Displays. Following previous leaks, Apple will be bringing LTPO panels that will also facilitate an Always-on display for the first time on an iPhone.
However, only the Pro models will feature the new 120Hz display. A perk of bringing in LTPO panels on the iPhone 13 will mean improved power consumption. According to DigiTimes, the iPhones with new displays will have at least a 15-20% reduction in battery consumption.
Bigger Battery
Speaking of battery life, multiple leaks indicate that the iPhone 13 lineup will feature bigger batteries. Apple has managed to add space for a bigger battery by integrating the SIM slot with the motherboard and reducing the front optical module thickness.
The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro are expected to come with a 3095mAh battery. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 mini will have a 2406mAh battery and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature a 4352mAh battery.
The new iPhone models are also expected to support 25W fast charging to support the huge batteries.
Camera
We will see some big camera changes in the iPhone 13 models. For starters, the entire iPhone 13 lineup will feature Sensor-shift stabilization. The feature was previously part of the iPhone 12 Pro models. It helps in stabilising the camera, which is especially helpful in low-light conditions.
The iPhone 13 Pro models are expected to come with new six-element ultrawide lenses and an improved aperture. Both Pro models might have f/1.8 aperture, up from f/2.4 aperture on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. On top of that, the Ultra wide lens in the Pro models may also have autofocus.
Other than hardware changes, Apple plans to add some exclusive new camera features. The iPhone 13 Pro models may come with a feature called ProRes, which is the video version of portrait mode for iPhone cameras.

Besides the above new features, there is a new 5nm+ A15 chip in the iPhone 13 lineup and Qualcomm’s X60 5G modem for improved 5G speeds and power efficiency.
In terms of looks, the iPhone 13 lineup will look and feel exactly like the iPhone 12. That said, a few changes are expected.
The biggest design change to be expected on the iPhone 13 is a smaller notch. You can also expect a bigger camera bump in the iPhone 13 Pro model. Meanwhile, leaks indicate the iPhone 13 mini and the iPhone 13 will have lenses arranged diagonally.
The iPhone 13 Pro models might come with storage support for up to 1TB. Lastly, let’s not forget iOS 15 which will come pre-installed on the new iPhone 13 series.
