Back in September, Samsung unveiled the world’s first 200MP ISOCELL HP1 camera sensor along with a new 50MP ISOCELL GN5 sensor. While the 200MP sensor has been around for a couple of months now, we were still unsure which phone OEM will use it first and now, it looks like we have found out which smartphone maker will use the Samsung’s new 200MP ISOCELL HP1 sensor.
According to the leaker, Ice Universe Motorola will be the first one to use the 200MP sensor followed by Xiaomi that will be using it in the second half of 2022 while Samsung is said to adopt the 200MP sensor later in 2023. Usually, Xiaomi is one of the first in the line to adopt new sensors from Samsung as we’ve seen in the past, but this time around, it looks like Motorola will be the one to take the charge and be the world’s first phone maker to have a 200MP sensor.
200MP camera will be adopted by Moto first, then by Xiaomi in the second half of next year, and by 2023, Samsung will adopt 200MP.

In the coming days, Motorola is expected to launch Motorola Edge 30 Ultra which was spotted on TENAA recently. However, the leaks suggest the Edge 30 Ultra will feature a 50MP camera and not a 200MP sensor. This year, Motorola launched phones with 108MP cameras such as Moto G60, Moto Edge 20, Moto Edge 20 Fusion, and Moto Edge 20 Pro. We will have to wait and see what Motorola has in the store for us later this year and 2022.
Earlier rumours suggested that Samsung will use a 200MP camera on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, but later on, a report suggested that Samsung will skip it and instead it will sport a 108MP camera on the rear. While Motorola is expected to launch the first phone with 200MP, Xiaomi won’t stay too far in the game as it is prepping to launch phones with 200MP cameras as well in Q2 2022, as per the leaker.
