Jio Saavn Slashes Annual Subscription Price by 70% After Spotify and YouTube Music Launch in India

The India music streaming market is quickly heating up. Spotify made its foray into the Indian market late last month, followed by YouTube Music. In order to take on the two new rivals in the Indian music streaming market, Jio Saavn has slashed its annual Pro subscription plan for users by a significant 70%. Reliance Jio is hoping the price cut will help its music streaming platform to continue growing.

JioSaavnPro Annual Subscription Now Costs Just INR 299

The Reliance JioSaavn Pro annual subscription was previously priced at INR 999. Now, however, you can purchase the annual Pro subscription for just INR 299. The annual subscription lets you listen to over 45 million songs simultaneously on five devices with no ads or skip limits. You will also enjoy unlimited downloads, higher 320kbps bitrate, customized radio, endless playlists, as well as access to original shows and podcasts. If you do not wish to get the Pro subscription for an entire year, you still have the option of choosing the monthly subscription at INR 99.

It should be noted that Gaana, the other major domestic player in the Indian music streaming market, is also offering its annual Gaana Plus subscription at INR 299 for a year. Additionally, Gaana offers a three-month subscription plan at INR 199 and a six-month subscription at INR 249. Both Gaana and JioSaavn now offer much better value than YouTube and Spotify, provided you opt for the annual subscription plan. Since the average Indian consumer is very value conscious, it will be an uphill task for the international players to beat JioSaavn and Gaana here.

YouTube Music, which happens to be the latest entrant in the Indian music streaming market, does not offer an annual subscription plan. Instead, users can opt for a monthly subscription plan of INR 99. Spotify offers a premium monthly plan for INR 119, while a one-year subscription to the premium service costs INR 1,189. Apart from monthly and yearly plans, Spotify also offers subscription plans for one day, seven days, three months, and six months. Since both Spotify and YouTube Music are new to the Indian market, they are offering free trials to users in the country to lure users. You can enjoy a three-month free trial of YouTube Music without background play support, while Spotify is offering a one-month free trial.
