Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) with S Pen, Exynos 7904 SoC, 4200mAh Battery Launched: Price, Features

Last month, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) and now the company has silently announced the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) Edition (SM-P205). Powered by Exynos 7904 14nm SoC, 3GB of RAM, Android 9 Pie, and Full-HD screen, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) Edition packs decent specs. More importantly, the tablet also supports S-Pen that has similar functionality as the one on the Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) in Grey and Black color variants. It is expected to go on sale soon across the UK via Carphone Warehouse, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, and Singapore. Samsung is yet to announce the pricing of the tablet in these regions. As for its price and availability in India, Samsung has not revealed that either.

Coming to the specs on the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) Edition, it packs an 8.0-inch WUXGA TFT display with 1920 ×1200 pixel resolution. An octa-core Exynos 7904 14nm chipset powers the tablet with Mali-G71 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 512GB via microSD card. It packs an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. Connectivity options on the tab include 4G LTE (Optional), WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Wi-Fi Direct, USB 2.0 Type-C, Bluetooth 5 LE, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, and GLONASS. A 4,200mAh battery completes the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) Edition. It runs Android 9 Pie-based One UI out of the box.

The camera on the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) supports AR emoji and stickers. It also includes modes such as live bokeh, live blur, and live beauty. The rear camera is capable of full HD video recording. Although the tablet has decent specs, it lacks a fingerprint sensor and also the face unlock. Design-wise, the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) looks fine but it still has bezels around the screen. Samsung has made it sleeker, but it still lets go of screen real-estate.

Apple recently launched a new edition iPad Mini, and now Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019). Both the tablets pack enough power for the segment, but Samsung has not quite reached the same popularity with its tablets as Apple has with its iPad lineup. It would be interesting to see how the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) pans out in the market. What’s your take on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019)? Would you prefer it over Apple iPad?
