Xiaomi is rolling out MIUI 12 update to its range of smartphones slowly and steadily. The latest MIUI 12 update brings a plethora of new features like Supe Wallpaper, enhanced privacy, app drawer support, floating windows, Dark Mode 2.0, and more. However, it seems that the new update is also causing some issues with some devices. POCO F1, Redmi Note 8 Pro, and Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphones are reportedly facing some battery drainage issue with the new MIUI 12 update. Here’s what you need to know.
MIUI 12 battery drainage issue
Multiple users have raised this issue on the Mi community forums and on social media platforms. POCO F1, Redmi Note 8 Pro, and Mi 9 users complain that the battery is draining faster since they have updated to MIUI 12. “Having heavy battery draining problem (Redmi Note 8 Pro) while playing game after updating to MIUI 12 please give me some tips and tricks,” one user said. The issue was first spotted by Notebookcheck.
That said, the worst affected devices seems to be Redmi Note 8 Pro and POCO F1. Xiaomi is yet to acknowledge this issue and there is no information when the fix will be released for these smartphones. Moreover, there appears to be no workaround for the battery drainage issue on these smartphones. One can try some general workaround like performing a factory reset and more to see if the issue is fixed or not. However, we advise you to backup all your data first before resetting the device.
Coming to the key features of MIUI 12, it is said to offer privacy-related features. The MIUI 12 also allows users to control the notifications from the apps. The update also brings background permission notifications feature that alerts whenever an app uses the location. It also brings app drawer function with MIUI 12. Users can sort apps, choose between light and dark background. The update also brings new floating windows that allows user to use two different apps at once. Then there are Super Wallpapers that shows multiple levels of aerial views of the Earth and Mars.
