Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has officially launched the Redmi Note 12 series in India and China. The Chinese market has a few more options compared to the three variants of the Note 12 series in India. Most of the Note 12 series phones in China come with 5G network support. Xiaomi might launch a budget variant of the Redmi Note 12 with 4G network support soon. The 4G variant could be launched in various emerging markets where 5G is not yet available. Xiaomi might also launch the phone in India and China as an affordable Note.
The company has not confirmed the launch details of the Note 12 4G. Meanwhile, a XiaomiUI report has revealed some details about the affordable Note. The Redmi Note 12 4G could launch soon in India and some other global markets. The report revealed the details based on an IMEI database listing of the Note 12 4G. Let’s take a look at what is known so far about the Redmi Note 12 4G.
Redmi Note 12 4G IMEI Listing
The Redmi Note 12 4G might make its way soon to India in the coming weeks. Xiaomi has not confirmed any details but rumours have surfaced on the web. The XiaomiUI report revealed that there are two versions of the Note 12 4G. The website spotted three Redmi models in the IMEI database.
The phone is codenamed Tapas. The one coming to India and some global markets has the model numbers 23028RA60L and 23021RAAEG. These variants do not feature support for NFC. There is an NFC-supported variant of Note 12 4G, which will launch in global markets but not in India. This variant has the codename topaz and comes with the model number 23021RAA2Y.
The report further revealed the software details of the phone. XiaomiUI claims that the Note 12 4G will boot on the latest Android 13 software update out of the box. As expected, there will be a layer of MIUI 14 on top. In comparison, the Note 12 series launched in India boots Android 12-based MIUI 13 out of the box.
The report also revealed that the phone will launch with at least 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The top storage option will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Unfortunately, other details about the Note 12 4G are unknown. It would not be a surprise if the phone offers an AMOLED display and a 5000mAh battery, similar to what we see in other Note 12 series phones. The phone could also come with a triple-camera setup on the back. The Note 12 4G could also get the latest 4G SoC from MediaTek, which is the Helio G99 SoC.
