Motorola recently launched the Moto Edge 40 Pro as its flagship smartphone for 2023 in Europe. The company announced its flagship phone as a rebadged Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and a 50MP triple-camera setup on the back. The company is now gearing up for the launch of another premium phone in the Edge 40 series. Motorola Edge 40 5G is expected to launch soon. The premium smartphone will sit below the Edge 40 Pro and is expected to launch soon in India.
Motorola has not confirmed the official launch date of the phone. However, the launch seems imminent as the official design images of the Edge 40 5G have leaked online. Let’s take a look at the Motorola Edge 40 design images, specifications and other details known so far.
Motorola Edge 40 Design Leaked: What to Expect
The Motorola Edge 40 will be a premium smartphone offering sitting below the Pro model in the lineup. It might launch later this month. The Edge 40 design renders shared by tipster Roland Quandt reveal that the phone will launch in three colour options globally. These will be in shades of Lunar Blue, Nebula Green and Eclipse Black. There will be a special Viva Magenta colour option of the phone exclusive to the US market.
The design is similar to the Pro model, except that the phone has a dual-camera setup on the back. The Edge 40 5G will sport a curved display with a hole-punch cutout at the top centre. It also has thin bezels at the top and bottom of the display.

A recent report claimed that the phone will launch at a starting price of EUR 599 (roughly Rs 53,500) for the base 8GB + 128GB variant. Its India price could be much lower.
MySmartPrice had exclusively revealed the specifications of the upcoming Motorola smartphone. The phone will sport a 6.55-inch pOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen offers 1200 nits of peak brightness and support for HDR10+.
On the back, the Edge 40 5G has a dual-camera setup. The phone will have a 50MP main camera with an f/1.5 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS) support. It will be accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. For selfies, there will be a 32MP front camera.
Under the hood, there will be a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC. The phone is expected to launch with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and offer up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It will pack a 4400mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. The Edge 40 will run Android 13-based MyUX 5.0 out of the box.
