Vodafone looks to be in the midst of an aggressive marketing campaign to beat its competitors. The telecom giant, which is India’s second largest private telecom player, has released a slew of offers in the recent past to counter the onslaught by Reliance Jio. Vodafone has released attractive prepaid and post-paid plans to retain its customers and has also offered additional benefits such as access to the Vodafone Apps. Recently, the company took it a notch further as it has announced a partnership with Amazon, which will see Vodafone offer a year’s worth of Amazon Prime content along with its Red Plans.
Vodafone Amazon Prime Offer: Details
However, now it looks like all Vodafone prepaid users can avail a special discount of 50% off on Amazon Prime subscription for a year. This also includes users that aren’t currently subscribed to the Vodafone Red Plans.
Here is the step by step guide for users to claim this discount.
Users, first need to download and install the My Vodafone App on your Android / iOS mobile device from the Playstore or Apple Store, if you already don’t have it installed. Next up, sign up or log in using your Vodafone mobile number. Here on the app, you should be able to see the offer termed “Exclusive Youth Offer”. Then select the offer and now you will be prompted to pay Rs. 499 for the subscription fees. Use any method such as online banking, debit card/credit card or mobile wallets to make this payment.
After the payment has been completed you will receive a confirmation. Now you can log onto your Amazon account and you will be eligible to access Amazon Prime membership benefits.
This offer hasn’t been publicised much by Vodafone and looks to be an introductory offer to entice subscribers onto the Amazon Prime platform. The offer also looks to be a limited time offer although no timeframe has been specified by Vodafone. The offer is a one-time only offer and can be availed only once by every prepaid user. The offer is also valid only on a yearlong subscription of Amazon Prime’s services.
Amazon Prime: Benefits
Although Amazon Prime subscriptions were available since 2007 in the US, it was launched in India only as late as July 2016. Although initially it was marketed as a Premium Membership to get offers on select merchandise on Amazon and express delivery, with the expansion of the media streaming business in India, Amazon Prime is now seen more a Premium Media content streaming platform. Currently, an Annual Subscription to Amazon Prime’s services would cost Rs. 999 per year. With this offer, users can avail it at just Rs. 499, which is a significant saving.
Amazon Prime has been the country’s most preferred online content streaming platform ahead of Hotstar and Netflix as it offers access to latest movies and international TV shows that are constantly updated. Amazon Prime’s subscription is viewed as more useful than Hotstar and Netflix owing to the other benefits it brings such as hot deals/discounts on various merchandise on Amazon’s platform apart from super-fast/priority shipping options that otherwise cost more to non-Prime subscribers. So Amazon’s Prime membership is viewed as much more than just a video streaming platform and this would certainly make it attractive for Vodafone users to avail the 50% discount on Prime Membership.

Apart from this offer, Amazon Prime membership is bundled in for Vodafone users subscribing to its Red plans that include the Red Entertainment (at Rs. 399), Red International (at Rs. 999), Red International + (at Rs. 1,299), the Red Signature (at Rs. 1,999) as well as the Red Signature Plus (at Rs. 2,999).
