BlackBerry Key2 Goes on Sale For the First Time on Amazon With Rs.2,250 Discount Offer

Last week, BlackBerry launched its flagship KEY2 Android smartphone in India. The smartphone is now on sale in India via Amazon.in. As with any other major launch, BlackBerry has teamed up with Amazon to come out with some exciting offers for buyers. The KEY2 is manufactured in India by Optiemus Infracom Limited, which is licensed to sell BlackBerry-branded devices in India and neighboring markets.

BlackBerry KEY2: Price in India, Launch Offers

The BlackBerry KEY2 is priced at Rs.42,990 in India. It comes in a single memory configuration with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. Launch offers on the BlackBerry KEY2 include 5% instant discount on ICICI Bank credit card on EMI transactions, 10% cashback with Citi Credit cards on EMI transactions for Prime members, No Cost EMI on all major credit cards, and No Cost EMI on Bajaj Finserv EMI card. Do note that the maximum discount per card is Rs.2,250 in case of ICICI cards and Rs.2,000 for Citi credit cards. Apart from these offers on Amazon.in, Jio subscribers will be eligible for the Rs.4,450 cashback offer on purchasing the KEY2.

BlackBerry KEY2: Specifications, Features

The BlackBerry KEY2 comes with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display that offers 1080 x 1620 Full HD resolution and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. In terms of design, the KEY2 boasts a 7000 series aluminum frame in the middle with a diamond pattern rear panel that is made out of polycarbonate. The key USP of the KEY2 is, of course, the 4-row QWERTY physical backlit keyboard with a fingerprint sensor built into the spacebar, just like the KEYone. Under the hood, BlackBerry KEY2 runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz with an Adreno 512 GPU. As we mentioned above, the KEY2 comes in just a single memory configuration with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For further expansion, the KEY2 includes a Hybrid Dual-SIM slot configuration.

Moving on to optics, the KEY2 is the first BlackBerry smartphone to have been launched in India featuring a dual-camera setup on the back. The primary 12MP sensor boasts 1.14um pixel size and is coupled with an f/1.8 79.3-degree wide-angle lens, while the secondary 12MP rear camera has 1.0um pixel size and an f/2.6 aperture. For selfies, the smartphone comes with an 8MP snapper on the front. The rear camera can record videos at up to 4K resolution with a frame rate of 30fps, while the selfie camera supports 1080p Full HD video capture.

Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.0 Type-C, FM radio, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone packs a 3360mAh capacity battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. According to BlackBerry, the KEY2 delivers up to 25 hours of mixed usage on a single charge. And thanks to fast charging support, you will only have to wait 36 minutes for the battery to achieve 50% charge.  In terms of physical dimensions, the KEY2 measures 151.4 x 71.8 x 8.5mm and weighs in at 168 grams. On the software front, BlackBerry KEY2 runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with BlackBerry DTEK security suite and minor customizations added on top.

BlackBerry KEY2: The Competition

While the BlackBerry KEY2 is the only option for BlackBerry fans looking for a modern smartphone that features a physical QWERTY keyboard, the rest of you may not find the device to be an attractive option. For a lower price tag than the KEY2, you can purchase true blue flagship devices like the OnePlus 6, ASUS ZenFone 5Z, and the Honor 10. Vivo’s innovative NEX is also very close to the KEY2 in terms of pricing.
