Lenovo Z5 Pro Launch Event Starts: Watch Live Streaming, Live Updates, Expected Price, Features

After teasing it for weeks, Lenovo will finally unveil its first slider phone today, dubbed Z5 Pro. Lenovo Vice President Chang Cheng has been making some tall claims regarding the smartphone on his Weibo page, the same way he hyped the Z5 before launch. In a post published right after the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 was launched in China recently, the executive claimed the Z5 Pro will have the most expensive in-display fingerprint sensor in the industry. Similar to the Mi MIX 3 and the Honor Magic 2, the Z5 Pro is expected to come with a manual slider mechanism, which should allow it to achieve a near 100% screen-to-body ratio.

Lenovo Z5 Pro Launch: Live Streaming, India Time

The Lenovo Z5 Pro launch event is scheduled to start at 14:00 hours in Beijing, which converts to 11:30 AM IST. As with any other major launch event, Lenovo will be live streaming the launch of the Z5 Pro online. You can watch the Z5 Pro launch live by heading over to this page.

Lenovo Z5 Pro Specifications

While Lenovo had been trying to portray the Z5 Pro as a flagship-grade smartphone that would take on the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, that may not actually be the case. The Lenovo Z5 Pro was recently spotted on Geekbench and AnTuTu benchmark databases recently, revealing a Snapdragon 710 processor. Qualcomm’s 10nm Snapdragon 710 is no doubt a mighty impressive mid-range SoC but it is not the company’s flagship offering. Another area where the Lenovo Z5 Pro may disappoint is software. Lenovo Z5 Pro will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based ZUI 10 software. The AnTuTu benchmark listing also revealed that the smartphone will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. However, there is certainly a good chance that the Z5 Pro may be offered in other memory configurations as well. As for the display, the benchmark listing did not confirm the exact size but did reveal a 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution. Rumors, however, suggest the smartphone will have a 6.5-inch sized display.

The slider mechanism on the Z5 Pro will apparently have a dual-screw, six-position guidance technology. Lenovo has reportedly tested the slider mechanism over 300,000 times for durability. In the camera department, Lenovo Z5 Pro will not have four rear cameras as the company had previously claimed. Instead, the smartphone is expected to have a 24MP + 16MP dual-camera setup at the rear with AI-powered super night mode as well as an AI super video mode. The Lenovo Z5 Pro is also expected to feature a dual-camera setup on the front. Some of the other confirmed features include Dolby Atmos support and a hardware security chip.

Lenovo Z5 Pro Price, Availability

Since the Lenovo Z5 Pro is not expected to be a flagship-grade smartphone, we expect it to be priced much lower than devices like the Mi MIX 3. Since the Z5 was launched at a starting price of 1,299 yuan (INR 13,800 approx.), the Z5 Pro will likely have a starting price of around 1,999 yuan (INR 21,100 approx.). Just like the Z5, the Z5 Pro is expected to be available exclusively in China.
