Honor 9N, Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7X Will Receive GPU Turbo Public Beta Update From July 31

Last month, Huawei announced its GPU Turbo technology that aims to improve gaming performance while reducing power consumption on its smartphones. The company has so far released a beta update for the GPU Turbo for devices like the P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, and the Mate 10 Pro. Starting tomorrow, i.e. July 31, the GPU Turbo public beta will be available for some of the company’s budget devices as well.

Honor 9N, Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7X: GPU Turbo Beta Update to Begin Rolling Out From July 31

Honor has reportedly confirmed that the GPU Turbo beta update for the Honor 9i (2018), Honor 9 Lite, and Honor 7X smartphones will begin rolling out in China starting July 31. Once the public beta testing is complete, we can expect the final GPU Turbo update to be pushed out to these devices in China. Their global variants, which are currently on sale in India, will likely receive the update soon after the rollout begins in China.

Honor 9N: Specifications, Features

The Honor 9N is a budget Android smartphone featuring a 5.84-inch 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor clocked at 2.36 GHz with a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. The smartphone comes in three storage variants – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage. On the back of the smartphone is a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup, while for selfies the Honor 9N features a 16MP snapper on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Rest of the smartphone’s key features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, Ride Mode, Party Mode, and a 3000mAh capacity battery. The Honor 9N runs on the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with EMUI 8.0 running on top.

Honor 9 Lite: Specifications, Features

Launched in India in January this year, the Honor 9 Lite comes with a 5.65-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass layer on top. It is powered by an octa-core Kirin 659 processor clocked at 2.36 GHz with a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. The Honor 9 Lite is available in India in two configurations – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. In the camera department, Honor 9 Lite features a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on the back and a 13MP + 2MP setup on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh capacity battery. Like most other budget Android smartphones, the Honor 9 Lite comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. In terms of physical size, the Honor 9 Lite measures 151 x 71.9 x 7.6mm and weighs in at 149 grams. On the software front, the Honor 9 Lite runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 running on top.

Honor 7X: Specifications, Features

The oldest handset of the trio, the Honor 7X arrived in India in December last year. It sports a 5.93-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved glass layer on top. Just like the newer Honor 9 Lite and Honor 9N smartphones, the Honor 7X is powered by an octa-core Kirin 659 processor under the hood. It comes in two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB with 4GB of RAM. On the back of the handset is a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup, while for selfies the Honor 7X includes an 8MP sensor on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Some of the other features include a 3340mAh battery and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The smartphone currently runs Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 running on top.
