Motorola could announce 5G Moto Mod alongside Moto Z3 on August 2

Motorola is hosting an event at its Chicago HQ on August 2 and is expected to announce some new smartphones like the Moto One Power and Moto Z3 at the event. The Android Report claims, citing an inside source, that the company will not only unveil the Moto Z3 at the event, it will also launch a 5G mod for the device, which we have previously seen in leaked Images. As per the report, the smartphone will be Verizon exclusive in the US and with the 5G mod, it will be the first smartphone that can be upgraded to 5G when required. Instead of a Force series smartphone, the Moto Z3 will apparently be the flagship device of the company this year. The Moto Z3 will reportedly not come equipped with a shatterproof display like the Force series of handsets. Not much is known about the device in terms of specifications. However, as the new report states that it will be the company’s 2018 flagship, it will most likely be launched running on the Snapdragon 845 SoC and come with up to 6GB RAM and internal storage of up to 128GB. It is rumoured to feature a 6.3-inch OLED Full HD+ display and come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Z3 could be equipped with dual cameras on the rear, where both are 12MP sensors. On the front could be an 8MP camera with AI-based features like beautification and software-based bokeh. The handset is expected to launch running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo and might be equipped with a 3300mAh battery. The 5G moto mod was previously expected to debut with the Moto Z3 Play, but obviously, that didn’t happen. The previously leaked images of the Moto Mod show it featuring a protruding antenna and when slapped on the phone, it can add to the device’s breadth by a considerable factor. There is no word yet on how much the Moto Z3 and its 5G companion mod will cost.
