Xiaomi today announced that they will release their new Mi gaming laptop for the global market this week. Considering that the laptop — which was launched for the Chinese market late in March — comes after much anticipation and excitement from gamers round the world, this is a great news for so many. Let’s take a look at what we know.
Mi Notebook 2018: Intel i7 Processor
The global launch date of the new Xiaomi gaming laptop is August 3, and the device will be powered by Intel Core i7 processor. The announcement poster shows a monster with a precious stone in his check, glowing to glory, and the text reading: New Performance Monster Awakening.
Xiaomi had just a little earlier also suggested that there will be a ‘birth of new monsters’, perhaps hinting at an upcoming series of Xiaomi games. While the company hasn’t said so, many believe that the Xiaomi gaming laptop could be updated to Intel Core i9 processor for better speeds.
Mi Notebook 2018: Specifications, Pricing
The Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop comes with a 15.6-inch screen, Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics processor, the Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, and hard disk storage of up to 1TB. There is a 3.5mm audio jack, the USB-C port, USB 3.0 port, HDMI port, and other necessary connectivity capabilities. They make a total of 10 ports, placed ergonomically well.
There is a hotkey turbo cooling, Dolby sound and Sony high-resolution certified audio, a 30 n-key rollover with its professional gaming keyboard. You also get five macro keys with a 16M colour four-zone keyboard and a wide colour gamut in the screen.
A smaller version of the Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop comes with 8GB RAM, 128GB ROM, the same 1TB hard disk, and a smaller Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti graphics card.
The price range of the laptops in China is Chinese Yuan 5,999 to 8,999. That can take the price of the laptop here in India up to Rs 90,000, or even a bit more.
Mi Notebook 2018: In Comparison
By comparison, what we already have available and selling well is the Asus ROG Core i7 Gaming Laptop, which is available at Amazon.in for Rs 1,07,990. The ‘choice of champions’, as Asus cheekily calls it, is equipped with similar tech. It sports a 15.6-inch screen and packs the Nvidia GTX 1050 graphics processor, is powered by Inter Core i7, has a turbo boost for speeds up to 3.8GHz, 8GB RAM, Full HD anti-glare display, 1TB hard disk, Sonic Master audio, illuminated chiclet keyboard, one Type-C USB port, one USB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, one HDMI port, and a two-in-one card reader. It also comes pre-installed with a Windows 10, including free and automated security and other Windows updates.
