Facebook Messenger Rooms With 50-Person Free Video Call Launched

Finally, Facebook launched Messenger Rooms, a new video calling feature which includes up to 50 people with no time limit. It make it easy for friends, loved ones and others who share your interests to spend quality time.

The Messenger Rooms will allow users to build a public or private video chat rooms with 50 people capacity and no time limit. Also, Facebook provides virtual backgrounds for Facebook’s video chat rooms and Augmented Reality (AR) filters.

Perhaps the most prominent is Chat Rooms, which on Facebook and Facebook Messenger creates joinable community video calls. Hosts can invite anyone to join even if they don’t have a Facebook account and rooms can soon hold up to 50 users without a time limit.

Messenger Rooms present an imminent challenge to Zoom, video chatting devices that have seen their use skyrocket as a result of the coronavirus pandemic over the past month.

The latest video features come as more users turn to Facebook apps to socialize with friends and family while staying in quarantine as a result of the pandemic.

How To Use Fb Messenger Rooms?

  • Open the Messenger app in your Android or iOS device.
  • Select People from the bottom bar and click the option Create Room option on top.
  • It will open up to a video chat box and now share the invite hyperlink with the folks you need to add to your room.
  • You can then copy the link and share it with others via apps like WhatsApp and also choose to share the link with only people on Facebook or anyone without a Facebook account.

Note : Users accessing your Messenger Room connection will see your Facebook profile name and show picture. You can lock the room too, stopping anyone from entering it.

None the less, a downside of Messenger Rooms is that end-to-end encryption typically does not secure the video calls. However Fb says the level of protection is much better than Zoom.

Messenger Rooms are rolling out this week in several countries and will extend to the rest of the world in the weeks to come.
