[Update: On BIS, India] Redmi Note 9 Moniker Confirmed by Thailand’s NBTC, Expected to be the Rebranded Redmi 10X for Global Markets

When the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 series made its debut, in India, everyone was surprised because there was no Redmi Note 9 phone in it. Instead, we got only the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. That being said, the brand does intend to launch the Redmi Note 9. And that is evident by the numerous leaks and rumors so far.

Recently, we came across listings of the Xiaomi M2003J15SC smartphone on many certification websites and we speculated it to be the Redmi Note 9. But there was no concrete proof. Moreover, it turned out that the M2003J15SC is Redmi 10X after all and not the Redmi Note 9. That left us wondering about the model number of the Redmi Note 9.

Today, we have come across a listing of a Xiaomi smartphone, with model number M2003J15SS on Thailand’s NBTC certification platform, and before you ask what phone is it, the listing clearly mentions that this smartphone is the Redmi Note 9, clarifying the confusion in model numbers once and for all. Plus, we have also spotted the Redmi Note 9 on FCC.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 (M2003J15SS) Spotted on Thailand’s NBTC

As you can see in the screenshot above, the listing on NBTC that we have come across today is for the model number M2003J15SS, and it clearly mentions that this smartphone is the Redmi Note 9. The listing also reveals that the smartphone has 2G, 3G, and 4G connectivity. Unfortunately, that is all it reveals.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 (M2003J15SS) Spotted on FCC

As for the FCC listing, it reveals that there will be two variants of the Redmi Note 9, M2003J15SS and M2003J15SG. The former will ship without an NFC and the later will come with an NFC. The listing also reveals that the Redmi Note 9 will have 22.5W charging, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, MIUI 11 customization and that the device measures 162mm x 78mm.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 (M2003J15SI) Spotted on BIS

We have come across a listing of a Xiaomi smartphone with model number M2003J15SI on BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards). And there is a lot of similarity between the two model numbers of the Redmi Note 9 and the model number we have come across on BIS. And therefore, we think that M2003J15SI is a model number of the Redmi Note 9 for the Indian market. Considering that the Redmi Note 9 has bagged a certification from an Indian agency, its launch seems imminent.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 is Most Likely Redmi 10X For International Markets

So, the model numbers of the Redmi Note 9 are M2003J15SS, M2003J15SG, and M2003J15SG and that of the Redmi 10X is M2003J15SC. There is very little difference in the model numbers of these two smartphones, which makes us think that the Redmi Note 9 will be the rebranded Redmi 10X for the global market. In simpler terms, Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 10X in China. And launch the same smartphone as the Redmi Note 9 for the global markets. The Redmi Note 9 series is expected to launch globally on April 30.
