Xiaomi, earlier today, announced the launch of MIUI 12 alongside the launch of a new phone called the Mi 10 Youth Edition 5G. As the case is always, the latest edition of MIUI comes with several new feature-additions that range from new live wallpapers, enhanced privacy settings, and an improved always-on display feature.

Among the key additions to MIUI 12 is the simplified user interface that now gets an enhanced dark mode called Dark Mode 2.0. The new Super Wallpaper feature is Xiaomi’s implementation of a 3D wallpaper that zooms when you unlock the phone.
Another essential addition is the new Xiaomi Health app that can be used to track your fitness regime. This app takes a lot of inspiration from Samsung Fit like and is powered by a new AI algorithm called Xiaomi MACE Micro that claims to consumes only 1% of the battery during active usage.
As outlined earlier, MIUI 12 also boasts of several updates to the core privacy features and claims that it has cleared the ‘Android Enhanced Privacy Protection Test’ by TÜV Rheinland. There is also a new feature addition called “Flare” that keeps track of all the permissions that have been granted to apps installed on the handset. It shall also pop an alert when an app asks for permission to use components like the camera or GPS.
