Weeks after China showed signs of recovering from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, smartphone brands from the country have been on a launch spree. The past few days have seen several new smartphone launches in the country. The latest handset that is likely to be added to this list is the new Honor X10 5G — which was made official by a senior Honor executive earlier today.
In case you are wondering, the Honor X10 5G is the new name for the Honor 10X 5G that we had talked about earlier here on MySmartPrice. Honor has confirmed that they are making this change to the name so that the model will not be confused with the Redmi 10X — another smartphone that archrival Xiaomi plans to launch in China.
The formal announcement of the name-change from Honor 10X to Honor X10 was made at the Global Mobile Internet Conference currently underway at Beijing by Honor’s President Zhao Ming.
Note that we still do not know most of the hardware specifications and other aspects of the Honor X10 5G. The phone – at least going by the naming scheme – seems to be a successor to the Honor 9X that was launched in China earlier this year. What we do know as of now is that it will feature a 6.6-inch display and a 4,300mAh battery.
It is, therefore, likely to feature several feature upgrades over its predecessor in terms of the processor, camera features, and software. The most significant change, however, is the addition of 5G support. The Chinese variant of the Honor 9X (which is different from the one launched in India) came only with 4G support.
With the Honor X10, Honor’s aim seems to be to bring the cost of 5G capable handsets and, in turn, increase the base of 5G users across China. Honor is also likely to price the Honor X10 5G very competitively in a bid to take usurp the title of the cheapest 5G phone in China from the Redmi K30.
Do watch this space for more updates on the Honor X10 5G.
