OnePlus has formally announced the end of the Open Beta Program for the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T nearly two years after the release of these devices. In a blog post made on the OnePlus Community forums, the company announced that OxygenOS Open Beta 6 would be the last open beta build for the OnePlus 6 and 6T.
If you have been following the OnePlus 6 series beta releases for a while now, you might be aware that OxygenOS Open Beta 6 for the OnePlus 6 and the 6T was released a few weeks ago. This version featured Android security patches for March 2020, as well as a few bug fixes.
This, unfortunately, will be the last beta release for the OnePlus 6 series, and the company has cited the introduction of new models to be one of the reasons they decided to stop supporting the now two-year-old handsets.
With both the handsets out of the beta program, users who are on the latest beta build must need to roll back to a stable version to continue receiving updates. To enable the same, OnePlus has released a rollback build for OnePlis 6 series devices currently on the beta channel.
This rollback build, according to OnePlus, will ensure that beta testers will be able to experience a smooth transition back to the stable software branch. This rollback build will install OxygenOS 10.3.2 on the OnePlus 6 series devices following which they will continue to receive stable updates as per the maintenance schedule.
In case you are among the several people who are on a beta build, you need to be aware that the rollback process will result in the wiping of all data from the phone. It is, therefore, essential that you back up all data before proceeding with the rollback.
