Honor – the Huawei owned smartphone brand from China has confirmed that it will launch a new mid-range smartphone called the Honor Play 4T on April 9 – just one week from today. The confirmation about the launch of this new phone came from Honor’s official Weibo account. The announcement of a new Honor Play device has come as a surprise to many since the company had only recently announced the launch of another device called the Honor Play 9A in China. Unlike the 9A, which was a budget handset, the Honor Play 4T appears to have mid-range specs. The Weibo post also included a launch poster for the Honor Play 4T, which did not reveal too many details. In case you weren’t aware, Weibo is a popular social media platform in China and can be called an equivalent of Twitter for the Chinese.
The aforementioned launch poster, which we have embedded below, reveals precious little about the specifications of the phone. The poster does have a silhouette of a smartphone that appears to feature a near bezel-less display. Whether the silhouette actually belongs to the Honor Play 4T is something that we would only get to know later. As mentioned earlier, the official Honor account did not reveal anything else about the handset.
In an interesting development, just minutes after Honor’s official Weibo account confirmed that the Honor Play 4T would be launched next week, a user by the name of ‘Digital Chat Station’ revealed some of the key specifications of the Honor Play 4T. At this time, we cannot ascertain the authenticity of these claims.
Per the second Weibo post, the Honor Play 4T features a fairly large 6.3-inch OLED display with a waterdrop style notch at the top. The phone is reportedly powered by Huawei’s Kirin 810 SoC. The phone will reportedly feature a single 16Mp front-facing camera and a triple camera array at the rear consisting of a 48MP primary camera, aN 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor. The battery capacity of the Honor Play 4T is claimed to be 4,000mAh, and the battery supports 22.5-watt fast charging technology as well.
As mentioned earlier, the aforementioned specs have not been officially confirmed by Honor. We should get a clearer picture of the Honor Play 4T over the course of the next few days.
