After a round of leaks and rumors, Vivo has quietly announced its latest mid-range smartphone in China, dubbed the Vivo Y50. The company’s sub-brand iQOO launched the iQOO Neo 3 smartphone yesterday. In contrast to the iQOO Neo 3, which is a 5G smartphone, the Vivo Y50 is a 4G smartphone featuring a single punch-hole camera, a massive 5,000mAh battery, and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor. Take a look at the price, availability, specifications, and features of the Vivo Y50 smartphone and find out what it has in store for us.

Vivo Y50: Price and Availability

The Vivo Y50 is currently only launched in China. The device comes in a single 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant and is priced at CNY 1,698 in the country, which roughly translates to somewhere around $240. We are yet to hear from the brand about the global availability of the Vivo Y50. The device will go on sale on April 26, 2020.

Vivo Y50: Specifications and Features

The Vivo Y50 sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. As mentioned earlier, the Vivo Y50 comes with a single punch-hole display for the front camera, which is located in the top left corner. The presence of a punch-hole ensures that the Vivo Y50 retains a 90.7 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The Vivo Y50 is available in three paint jobs – Glacier Blue, Silver, and Obsidian Black. At the back, there’s a physical fingerprint scanner as well. The power button and the volume up and down buttons are on the right side of the device, while the SIM tray is on the left side.

Under the hood, the Vivo Y50 is equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 mobile processor, which is clubbed with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. If 128GB of storage does not suffice for your media consumption needs, the same can be expanded all the way up to 256GB with the help of an external SD card. On the software side of things, the Vivo Y50 ships with the latest Android 10 OS out of the box with the company’s in-house FunTouch OS skin built on top of it.

The rear design of the Vivo Y50 is reminiscent of the current generation of Vivo smartphones and the camera module looks identical to many of the recently launched smartphones. Nevertheless, the Vivo Y50 comes with a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth of field lens. At the front, the Vivo Y50 sports a 16MP selfie snapper with AI Smart Beauty feature.

In terms of battery life, the Vivo Y50 shines with a beefy 5,000mAh battery, which has support for up to 18W of fast charging over a USB Type-C charging port. What are your thoughts on the recently launched Vivo Y50? Do let us know in the comments section below.
