iPhone 13 May Retain the iPhone 12 Chassis But Finally Shrink the Notch And Bring Sensor Shift Stabilisation to All Variants

Apple launched the iPhone X series back in 2017 and introduced the new notch design to its iPhone portfolio. The iPhone 12 also supports the same notch size, there were many reports and rumours surfaced on the web claiming that the iPhone 12 will sport a smaller notch, but it seems that the company has decided to stick to the same notch size. Now when all the eyes are up for next-gen alleged iPhone 13 a new report from DigiTimes has surfaced on the web claiming that Apple will finally cut down the size of the notch.

Citing the supply chain insiders, the report claimed that the upcoming iPhone will arrive with a shorter notch. According to the report, Apple is expected to include the infrared camera and dot projector in a single module and make the notch design more compact. Further, the report claims that the next-gen iPhones will arrive with a flat-edge design like the iPhone 12 series.

The report also claims that the Apple iPhone 13 models are expected to launch with LiDAR scanner which is currently available only on iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Max. Besides, all the alleged iPhone 13 models are also said to come equipped with sensor-shift OIS which is only equipped with iPhone 12 Pro Max. The top-end model is tipped to be equipped with 6.1 and 6.7-inch displays and offer bigger lenses on the back as compared to the vanilla variant.

There is no concrete information on when Apple is planning to launch the upcoming iPhone series. However, going with the previous launches it has been expected that the company will launch the phone in the second half of 2021. Digitimes report also suggests that the next-gen iPhone series will be called iPhone 12S.

Reports also suggest that the new Face ID modules of the upcoming iPhone series will be supplied by Korean factories LG Innotek and Hon Hai. On the other hand, the selfie camera modules will be supplied by OFILM, Cowell and Hon Hai. Do note that the company is yet to reveal anything about the upcoming iPhone and this information is based on leaks and rumours. So we recommend you to take this with a grain of salt and wait for the official launch.
