Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Gets MIUI 10.0.4 Update that Improves Selfie Portrait Camera Mode, Fixes Hotspot Issue

Just a few days back, Xiaomi Redmi Y2 users got the MIUI 10 Stable Update and now the company has followed up with the second MIUI 10 Stable update to address some bugs and improve optimisation. Known as Redmi S2 elsewhere, the Redmi Y2 was the first device to get the stable MIUI 10 for the global ROM, which was called MIUI 10.0.1 and now, the first maintenance update is being rolled out as MIUI 10.0.4 for the users of Redmi Y2.

The MIUI 10.0.4.0 has fixed some bugs that hopped along the initial MIUI 10 release, along with some new features and improvements and optimisations in the camera app. Since the roll-out is staged, you might have to wait a few days before getting the MIUI 10.0.4.0.OEFMIFH update on your Redmi S2/Y2. However, if you are too curious to wait, you can download it on your own using either the recovery or fastboot download links, provided you already know how to manually install it on your device. If you are not that tech savvy, we recommend that you wait for the OTA download notification to avoid a run-in with problems.

Coming to the changelog of the 353MB update, there are some improvements and optimisations, as well as bug fixes. First off, a new button called “delete sound” can now be found in settings under Sound & Vibration. The new switch can be used to toggle the sound of deletion. Apart from that, there was previously an issue that prevented users from unlocking the device when they tapped the lock screen notification. This bug has now been fixed. The issues pertaining to using portable hotspot in second space have also been addressed. Second Space basically allows you to install the same app twice so that you can sign-in with different credentials.
